"Pretty Mess - Single review"

The obvious care and attention this local four piece has lavished on the intricate yet subtly tense and powerful arrangements on the B- side Age Of Urgency says a lot about the intelligence addressing the music they’re creating. The A- side itself glistens with youthful experienced yet controlled emotional intent, edgy yet crafted, that shows a young band really on top of their vision, asserting a sound that inevitably draws upon its antecedents – progressive, metal, “art rock” – yet isn’t obviously derivative. It’ll be interesting to see how all this sits across the forthcoming album, which I for one am looking forward to.

Bio

Progressive groove rockers GangAwry continue to impress audiences and peers alike at live performance with their dual guitar driven rock.

GangAwry's music features Brendon Jones ingenuously weaving his guitar throughout Nick Norton's edgy riffs all the while a deep and powerful groove filters through from the rhythm section. The whole parcel is sweetened by Norton's clarity as he delivers his lyrics.

The band established itself as a four piece anchored by Tim West and Warren Power with a dedicated and continually growing fan base which accelerated after their debut release in 2005.

Signing to new management and launching their long awaited 'New High' that year to an inspired full house, GangAwry have renewed vigour and confidence. Taking a hands on approach to the mix for their second release recorded at Stolen Planet, GA's first completely independent single 'Pretty Mess' followed in 2006.

During this time the band gained major supports with The Angels (AUS) and Adrian Belew (USA), toured SE Queensland, Canberra and Melbourne, whilst continuing to showcase themselves at Sydney's premier live music venues.

With all tracks from the forth coming debut album completed at Stolen Planet, the band is now looking forward to filming with DownWind Media for a slated shoot.
