Garnett & Beverly

Garnett & Beverly

BandFolkAdult Contemporary

New Thought pop/rock, "blood harmony" vocals, great energy, positive-message tunes.

Biography

Accompanied by Beverly’s acoustic guitar, the two singers combine impeccably blended harmonies and sensitive arrangements with a spirited stage presence to create an experience that is consistently both engaging and uplifting.

Garnett & Beverly call their collaborative effort a “global music ministry.” It’s an apt description given that it has taken them around the United States, to Mexico, South America, Australia and Egypt. Along the way, they have performed with such renowned New Thought speakers and ministers as Dr. Wayne Dyer (The Power of Intention), Gary Zukov (The Seat of the Soul), don Miguel Ruiz (The Four Agreements), Rev. Mary Manin Morrissey (No Less Than Greatness) and Dr. Rev. Kathianne Lewis.

Based in Seattle, Garnett and Beverly perform regularly at local New Thought churches, including Unity of Bellevue, Seattle Unity and Center for Spiritual Living. In addition to these live performances, they have built a strong fan base through their recorded music.

“Your music is not only heartfelt, poetic and inspirational; it is oftentimes just downright fun. No one can listen to the two of you and not be moved at a deep level. That’s what music should do and that’s what you do with music.” Rev. Dr. Kathianne Lewis - Senior Minister, Center for Spiritual Living, Seattle, WA

“As a psychotherapist in private practice for 30 years, I have always used music in my work. Recently, when one of my clients graduated from group therapy, I played your ‘Awake and Aware’ in recognition of her significant accomplishment. What a great theme song for many of us!” — Kathy Arcide

The duo first began performing together in 2000 and released the successful CD, “Live Flat Out,” in 2002. However, they each brought 20 years of stage experience to the collaboration, and the depth and diversity of their backgrounds shows in both their shows and their songwriting.

Live Flat Out

Written By: Hundley & Daugherty

Live Flat Out
Hundley/Daugherty 6/2002

Live flat out
Eat it all up with a spoon
Live flat out
July straight to June
With Spirit as your Guide
You’ll be howling at the moon
Live flat out
Eat it all up with a spoon

Oh so many years ago
My daddy says to me
“You’re burning down your candle girl
Too quickly now you see”

I said, “Daddy, I do love you so
But we live in different ways.
Can’t help - shine my light
I’m gonna’ let this candle blaze”

CHORUS

Why have yourself a Happy Meal
There’s a banquet here to choose
God makes enough for everyone
My choice won’t lessen you

We’ve gotta’ shift our paradigms
From less to more, it’s true
So get yourselves a Full-Meal Deal
And super size ‘it too.

CHORUS
Life is really juicy
Just like a perfect peach
Go ahead and have a bite
It’s all within your reach

Don’t worry ‘bout what people say
Or what you might become
‘Cause when you’re living full-flat out
You’re having twice the fun

CHORUS – (turn-around)

With Spirit as your Guide
You’ll be howling at the moon
Live flat out
Eat it all up with a spoon

Born Innocent

Written By: Hundley & Daugherty

Born Innocent
Daugherty/Hundley April 2002

They say that Jesus died for our sins
That’s where the trouble begins
A life of shame was to be our fate.
But if he were here today
I’m sure that he’d like to say
A word or two, to set the record straight.

You are born innocent
Surely you are heaven sent
And all that talk about fire and hell, well,
It’s nothing more than little fairy tales
‘Cuz if you read between the lines
There lies the truth and it will blow your mind
You’ll see – like me – you truly are Divine.

Way back in Sunday school
They talked about the Golden rule
Love your God, your neighbor, as yourself
But Jesus loves me, this I know
No one has to tell me so
But so does Buddha ‘n Krishna ‘n Allah Too

They’d all say we are born innocent
Surely we are heaven sent
Let me reiterate
We’re here to love and not to hate
‘Cuz if you look deep inside
You’ll find the truth and it’ll blow your mind
You’ll see – like me – you truly are Divine
You’ll see – like me – you truly are Divine

This all would make a lot more sense
If we’d lighten up and not be so dense
We’re here to love, to brighten up the world
Jesus said it’s ‘cuz the kingdom’s within
Each and every one of us human beins’
That’s you and me - let’s give this thing a whirl.

‘Cuz we are born innocent
Surely we are heaven sent
Let me say it now one more time
Ain’t no pitchfork aimed at your behind
If you look deep inside
You’ll find the truth and it’ll blow your mind
You’ll see, like me, you truly are Divine

Awake and Aware

Written By: Hundley and Daugherty

AWAKE AND AWARE
Hundley/Daugherty, 2002

Walkin’ around with my eyes wide open
Not knowin’ I was walkin’ asleep
Passing by strangers without even lookin’
Not one eye did I meet

Something inside says, “hey, you’ve been missin’
The life you came here for
Just open your mind and your ears and listen
For the key that unlocks the door”.

You stay awake and aware, now feel the opening
Awake and aware, you quietly listen
Awake and aware, now don’t go back to sleep
Don’t go back to sleep

Can’t go back, don’t want to stay the same
Won’t go back, I glimpse the new
Don’t go back, not even lookin’ there
I can’t go back, won’t go back, don’t go back to sleep.

I heard a story just last week
About the river and the man
How he might cross that river every day
And yet it never, never, never
Never, never, never stays the same

Stay awake and aware, now feel the opening
Awake and aware, quietly listen
Awake and aware, don’t go back to sleep
Don’t go back to sleep

Instrumental

Bridge : So if you’re tired of just being tired
You’ve got to make the time to go within
You might be surprised at what you find
If you listen to yourself, commit to yourself
Love yourself – you know you can

Awake Awake and aware
Don’t go back to sleep

Awake and aware, feel the opening
Awake and aware, quietly listen
Awake and aware, don’t go back to sleep
Can’t go back
Won’t go back
Don’t go back to sleep
