"Encore Performance at The Boxcar Santa Fe"

Los Angeles, CA --- Back by popular demand, The Garrett Young Collective will be performing once again in Santa Fe. Garrett Young, an award winning young artist who is burning up three charts ---- AC, Top40 and Country --- with his single “My Friend,” will be returning to Boxcar Saturday, February 2.

His first single, "Do You Hear My Cries," zoomed up the national charts hitting #1 at National Radio Hits, New Music Weekly and the Independent Music Network where he won IMN's coveted 2017 Favorite Male Artist of the Year Award and a New Music Award for 2017 Top40 New Artist of the Year. Garrett’s second single release from his The Garrett Young Collective CD, "My Oh My," raced up the charts too, hitting the top spot again at NRH, NMW and IMN. Currently, his third single from the CD, “My Friend,” hit #1 and in January, Garrett was awarded The Independent Music Network’s Crossover Artist of the Year award.

Billed as The Garrett Young Collective, his sister Callie Young, will also be performing at Boxcar. Callie, too, recently won an Independent Music Network award for Country Song of the Year, “Bittersweet Memories.”

Garrett Young, who calls Durango, Colorado home, will have his CD, The Garrett Young Collective, available for purchase at the venue. A percentage of the profits will be donated to The Grief Center of Southwest Colorado. Garrett has already made a sizable donation to this charity which is near and dear to his heart.

Show time for The Garrett Young Collective is 9:30 PM, at Boxcar, Saturday, February 2.

"Bayfield musician to support Grief Center through album sales"

For Bayfield resident and alternative/indie musician Garrett Young, the topic of suicide hits close to home.

“It’s the fifth time in my life that people close to us have taken their lives,” the 24-year-old said. “It’s got to stop, essentially.”

As a way to help, Young is donating money from sales of his debut album, “The Garrett Young Collective,” to the Grief Center of Southwest Colorado. Initially, he was donating 20 percent of album profits to the center, but a recent suicide motivated him to do more – he’s donating 100 percent.

The Grief Center offers a wide variety of support for those experiencing grief in their life, including individual and group therapy, support groups and community resources on grief, loss and trauma-informed care.

The center also has bereavement specialists available.

“They’re really great people, and I found out about them from the last time we went through something like this,” Young said. “They’re grief counselors, and they go on site and they’re amazing people. They help the families cope.”

Young said he will continue to donate the profits “for as long as I feel like I’ve made a good chunk of money I can give to them.”

He said so far, the campaign has been successful, and that the majority of CD sales have come from his live performances.

“At the gigs, I mentioned that I was doing that, and I had a bunch of people come up and buy CDs,” he said. “They were giving 20 bucks instead of 10 bucks, and it was really amazing.”

For Young, it’s all about raising awareness of a problem that only seems to be growing in frequency.

“It’s one of the hardest things in the world to understand because you look at some of the really successful people that have taken their own lives and you compare that to (an 11-year-old) – what are the common denominators between an 11-year-old and Chris Cornell? It’s so hard to really know,” he said. “More than anything, I just want awareness and prevention and to somehow make people feel like (they’re) not alone.” - Durango Herald

Bio

Thanks for checking out my music and taking the time to get to know me better!

My name is Garrett Young. I grew up working on my family’s cattle ranch in Colorado. Music, the mountains, and the ocean have always been my biggest passions. I began my musical journey at the age of 9 and have performed nearly 500 live shows ranging from bars and clubs throughout Colorado, New Mexico, Texas and California, to colleges, motorcycle rallies, festivals, and classic venues like the Whisky A Go Go and Animas City Theatre. I've had the privilege of recording with musicians such as Matt Sorum (Guns N' Roses), John Jorgenson (Elton John), and Bob Glaub (Stevie Nicks), as well as working with the legendary producers Michael Lloyd (MGM records, Moody Blues) and Ed Stasium (Ramones).

Following our October 2018 tour through Texas (which included opening for Mike Ryan at Antone's in Austin), my sister Callie Young and I were chosen to perform with Chevel Shepherd (winner of Season 15, The Voice). I will be adding more shows and festivals to our schedule this spring with my band, The Garrett Young Collective, during our upcoming tour through New Mexico, Arizona and California. Our live performances, as well as my self-titled debut album, explore the diverse breadth of my life experiences and influences, as well as styles of country, blues, and rock – old and new.

Through my music I try to bridge roots genres with their progressive counterparts and break the stigma of what it means to be a country boy!  My goal is to reach as many ears, touch as many hearts, and perform as many shows as possible. Two singles off of my album The Garrett Young Collective have reached #1 on multiple national charts.  I won the Independent Music Network’s  2017 Favorite Male Artist of the Year award and the 2017 Top40 New Artist of the Year New Music Award from New Music Weekly.  My third single from the CD, “My Friend,” hit #1 and in January, and  I was awarded The Independent Music Network’s Crossover Artist of the Year award as well as Mainstream Entertainer of the Year for 2018. Callie was also awarded Favorite Country Song of the Year by IMN with her song "Bittersweet".  Currently, "Colorado" is moving up the Country charts and at the same time "Stray Cat Call" is making a move on the AC side of the music world.

Check my website often to stay up to date on our tour schedule and upcoming new releases. And chances are, if I’m not on a stage you’ll either find me on a pair of skis, a mountain bike, a surfboard, or on the back of a horse!
