Garrison Evans

I started writing songs on pen and paper from a purely confessional standpoint. This served as a way to release my emotions without having to communicate them to an actual human being, whether it was love, hate, frustration, anxiety etc. I regularly felt alone and anxious, but music made me blind to those emotions. With the completion of a song, those sensations vanished and were replaced with relief and accomplishment. I focused my craft on the three aspects of my life I struggled with the most: depression, social anxiety, and my sexuality. My music’s purpose is to provide a support system. I want to tell the stories that are reluctant to be told. I want my music to be an abstract medicine. I want those who listen to know that they're not alone in their experiences. I want to make people think and analyze the world around them and eventually find solace and catharsis.

Artistic expression is a beautiful and vital thing in our world. Exposing my art creates a rush inside of me and I have a gut feeling that my hard work is going to pay off no matter how big or small the audience is. I’m not making music to show off my voice or to go from rags to riches. I’m making music to tell stories that so desperately need to be told. I get to relate, connect, and heal others the way that music has healed me, and that feeling is truly amazing.
