Garrison Fortress is noise and opera encapsulate. Electronic and guitar dissonance with vocals inspired by Jamie Stewart of Xiu Xiu and Rob Tyner of the MC5. Computer meltdowns akin to that of Autechre and Aphex Twin. Guitar playing and lyricism resonant of Isaac Brock from Modest Mouse. All of this is loosely held together and homegrown/DIY like Stefan Neville of Pumice. There are themes of alienation in the modern world, discontent, pathos, and a nagging optimism that pleads to move forward. Garrison Fortress may be guarded, but in the larger world, are we not all becoming more individual and defensive?
