"The River"

Public review:

The River is a song that could easily be part of the great late Frank Sinatra repertoire. You can hear the river flow through the melancholic melody and lazy timings. A song to dream away with...

The Silent Boy: This song has a nice mysterious feel, with a little Tarantino tongue in cheek. I like the atmosphere and melody and the music underlines the hispanic feel. Feedback to songwriter: Nice song, I can imagine hearing it on a movie sound track, but I doubt there will be a large commercial market for a song like this. But then again, if Mink DeVille would play it...

Bio

I am a native son of The Netherlands, born in a town called Son. I also lived in France, Belgium and the United States, where I worked as a freelance reporter, writer and AIDS prevention worker.
From a very early age I developed a passion for music and for the arts, literature and poetry. I started to write music at age 7, but my talents did not come to full bloom until 1982, when I put together an 11-piece school band.
After moving to Amsterdam, I formed a creative partnership with my brother Paul. As the "Burpeburg Brothers" we were involved in a large number of creative projects and wrote many songs together. Eventually we moved to San Francisco, California.
After moving back 5 years later, I returned to Amsterdam an older and wiser man and went back to his passions; painting and writing music.
Most of my songs are pop-ballads, but some are inspired by jazz, rock, and even Latin music.

Please keep in mind I am a songwriter, not a professional singer. My goal is to find people who want to record my work and perform with them.
