Bio

Gary Kazoo (aka Gary Silberman) has been a musical performer and funny guy for over 20 years (as Gary Gore). A prolific songwriter, he has written and collaborated on over 150 songs in all genres, including Rock and Roll, Country, Folk and Children's Music. Having met and performed with many fellow musicians in his travels, he's enjoyed the honor of having many of his songs performed regularly by various acclaimed bands and solo artists from New York to California, including the legendary Spook Handy (NJ Folk Artist of the Year too many times to remember), Jason Montero (HoneyChild, The HIGHbrows, Stoneface), Andy Simon (Ceramic Buddah), David Grossman (Best Folk/Acoustic act out of Arizona many times over) and Jonathon Tristam

Some History: After studying Psychology, English and Theater at the University of DE, he was accepted into the Director's Program at the prestigious School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, graduating with a BFA in Film & Video Production. After several years playing music (as a founding member of The FEAST and Gary Gore and the Gargoyles), a brief stint as a CNN cameraman and Director/Cameraman for the Manhattan cable cult classic A.Q. on the Spot (1990-1995), he moved to Boston for an opportunity to focus more on his original music with long-time musical co-hort and fellow FEAST member Phil Montero.

While in Boston, he began a 5 year run as host of the much lauded Gary Gore's Acoustic Open Mic at the The Kells and a year-long residency as the post-show entertainment at the Charles Playhouse for the BLUE MAN GROUP. It was also at this time that he began his educational career teaching, tutoring and corporate training for the educational giant Kaplan, eventually working his way to becoming their New England Regional Academic Manager.

But doesn't everyone want a little sunshine?
5 plus years of the Boston snow sent him to South Florida to spend time with family, work on his tan and practice his "schtick" on the tourists. After a year away from performing, he lept into the South Florida music scene, establishing himself quickly as a staple of Hollywood Beach. It's there he perfected his combination of music, comedy and improv several times a week on the on the tourists over the last 9 years
Then, in the summer of 2008, the leap was made to the Ft. Lauderdale area, where he quickly became a featured performer several times a week at the world famous Elbo Room.
The schtick and song selection, along with a versatile voice has garnered some praise along the way:

"Part Bruce Springsteen, part Don Rickles..."
-Miami Herald, Dec 2007

"If you want to be floored by a guy and his guitar..."
-The Miami Herald, August 2004

"...Musical and comic genius..."
-The Miami Herald, March 2005

It seems music was still calling him. It incorporated everything he had loved, done or studied: performing, comedy, music, writing and psychology. In the Winter of 2001, the arrival of his nephew opened a whole new world for him. He began to write for children shortly thereafter and the world of Gary Kazoo was born!
