Gary Merritt Band

BandCountrySinger/Songwriter

The meat is similar to contemporary country style but plenty sides of southern and classic rock and also classic pop/rock songs not usually heard. Plenty of originals for dessert!

Biography

I'm 46 outside and 26 inside.

My Father was a 20 year man in the USAF and was the lead singer of a country band and would play at clubs on and off base. He would record the show on a Sony reel-to-reel tape recorder (still owns) and I would sit with guitar in hand and play along with the band to Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Charlie Pride, Ray Price, etc. As I grew up I was also influenced by the rock and southern rock of my generation, now considered "classic rock"

Lyrics

I Found Love Again

Written By: Gary A Merritt

“I Found Love Again”

You can’t always please the crowd
You can’t always be the one that’s right
You can’t always please your mama
And you can’t win every fight

But you can hold on you can believe
Never give up on a heart felt dream
Even when it feels like an uphill fight
And you’re swimming against the stream

But there’s one thing that I know
This feelin’ that I’m feelin’
Now it won’t let go…no it won’t let go
Cause I… I found… I found love again
I said I found…I found love again

Like a pot of gold sittin’ ‘neath a rainbow
When our eyes met girl how was I to know
That my heart was gonna melt in your hand
Cause I found… I found love again
I said I found… I found love again

There comes a time in every life
When the flowers ain’t in bloom
When your friends don’t come around
You’re feelin lonely in a crowded room

Cause every cover don’t tell the story
Even when you know that you’ve been misread
It’s just the closing of a chapter
Follow your heart and not your head

Cause there’s one thing that I know
This feelin’ that I’m feelin’
Now it won’t let go…no it won’t let go
Cause I found…I found love again
I said I found…I found love again

Discography

I have just recorded a song for the first time down in Wilimington, NC. I have written many songs and look forward to completing a full CD and getting it out.

Set List

Generally I play the one man show but sometimes have a full band. I would play from classics like George Jones (He stopped loving her today), Johnny Cash (Folsom Prison Blues), Merle Haggard (Working Man Blues) a little more contemporary country like Toby Keith (I love this Bar) Gary Allan (Smoke Rings in the Dark), Brooks & Dunn (Neon Moon), Fun songs like Kenny Chesney ( When the Sun Goes down, Jimmy Buffet (Margaritaville), Amazing Rhythm Aces ( Third Rate Romance), Alan Jackson (It's Five O'clock Somewhere), also plenty of Eagles, Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker, The Stones, Clapton, etc. I have originals that also get the crowd going!
