I'm Not The Enemy

Written By: G. S. Sloyer

I’m alive in your world // I am hate and desire // You consume what
you’re told // Then I’m fed by the ?re // Burning deep in your soul //
Hold on to the truth if you can // And I thrive in your world // On
the loose unencumbered // Most will do what they’re told // Stand
in line with their number // Little lambs gone astray // Waiting to
graze in my ?elds // That brings us to you // You have a choice to
be made // What will you do // Will you believe what I say // Don’t
be afraid ‘cause I’m not the enemy // Yield to me succumb to
my charms // You’ll be swayed that I’m not the enemy // Come
to me fall into my arms // I’m not I’m not the enemy // I’m not
I’m not the enemy // Will you try in your world // To obtain fame and
fortune // Give the good life a whirl // It’s the way I’m endorsin’ //
There is no wrong pursuit // Or forbidden fruit under me // When you die
in your world // They can bury your treasure // All your diamonds and
pearls // Can be there for good measure // Will they comfort your soul //
Or cover the toll for your way // I say do not care // Things will work out
in the end // How can God be fair // And not let me see you again //
Don’t be afraid ‘cause I’m not the enemy // Yield to me succumb to
my charms // You’ll be swayed that I’m not the enemy // Come
to me fall into my arms // I’m not I’m not the enemy // I’m not
I’m not the enemy// Why would I lie to you // When I would die with you //
Won’t be deceived I’m not the enemy // All I want is all that
you need // I will give eternal serenity // It’s my guarantee //
Don’t be afraid I’m not the enemy // Yield to me // Succumb to
my charms // Let me persuade you I’m not the enemy // Come
to me fall into my arms // I’m not I’m not the enemy // I’m not
I’m not the enemy // I’m not I’m not the enemy

Be There (In That Heavenly Choir)

Written By: G. S. Sloyer

In the other world // I can see her standing // Standing there with open arms //
Waiting to extol the charms // Of her new found home // I remember what she
said // I always knew where she was standing // Lift your voice up to the King //
Then one day with me you’ll sing // Praises in His choir // A woman of few words
her conviction so deep // Each night she’d remind before we prayed // For my
soul to keep // We’ll be there // Standing on the promises // Walkin’ on the
legs of faith // You be there too // Singing about Heavenly bliss // Joining in
the songs of praise // Believe that it’s true // It’s by faith that we stand and I
stand by you // We’ll be there // Standing on the promises // Singing Praise
// You be there too // You know what to do // Give your heart and aspire //
To that Heavenly choir // In the other world // I can see him preaching // He
loved to learn he loved to teach // He read the Word and he would preach // Even
when I wouldn’t hear // I remember what he said // His saddest night yet he was
preaching // The pain we feel now will not last // This world will be left in the past
// On the way to our reward // When life has a way of distorting the prize // I
remember him say these words that night // And the look in his eyes // We’ll be
there // Preaching for the world to hear // Helping them to learn the Word //
You be there too // Singing ‘bout the end of fear // Sweetest tune that’s ever
been heard // You’ve been taught what to do // You’ve been raised in the
Word and the Word is in you // We’ll be there // Preaching for the world to
hear // Singing praise // You be there too // You know what to do // Give your
heart and aspire // To that Heavenly choir // So now it’s on me to challenge
where do you stand // Will you be singing songs of praise // Forever in His care //
We’ll be there // Standing on the promises // Preaching for the world to hear
// Will you be there too // Singing about Heavenly bliss //You know this is
the end of tears // There’s not much to do // Give your heart and accept that
the debt’s paid for you // We’ll be there // Standing on the promises // Share
the Word // And we need to see you // We’ll be easy to find // You won’t
need to inquire // We’ll be there standing, preaching and singing in that
Heavenly choir // We’ll be there standing, preaching and singing in that
Heavenly choir

Angels In The Room

Written By: G. S. Sloyer

Three AM
Yes I know it’s very late
Counting sheep tonight was just a waste of time
Don’t mind me
You won’t even know that I’m here
I just felt this was the place to be I’m not a doctor but it’s plain to see
That I really should be near
And though a light from the hallway spills in through your open door
In this room there is a darkness like I’ve never seen before
And I am scared yet grow increasingly aware
That there is something in this room
You and I are not alone
There’s a presence that I feel but cannot see
We are prisoners of doom
In a cell without despair
Something is there and it gives a sense of peace
Four AM
What they say is really true
The darkest times in life are just before the dawn
Five AM
Do you even know that I’m here
For my whole life I’ve been watching you seeing faith determine all you do
At times I question how it’s gone
You’re quiet so I take a walk to stretch and get some air
When I return I see you acting like you know someone is there
But it’s not me
There is something else you see
I think there’s something in this room
You and I are not alone
There’s a presence that I feel what can it be
Are there angels in the room
Why have they made their presence known
Are they here for you or are they here for me
This time is your time
The defining moment for all mortal men
Sometime it will be my time
If I was half the man you are
I’d be twice the man I am
Still I know if I believe like you I’ll see you once again
‘Cause there are
Angels in the room
Standing guard beside the bed
Now I can see what you have always known
That there are angels in the room
There’s nothing in the dark to dread
Those who believe will never be alone
Angels in the room
Nothing new for godly men
Six AM
I begin to see the light
You were always there
When things scared me in the night

I'll Be The Wind

Written By: G. S. Sloyer

Sun's up // Where is this place // How did you get here // You've drifted miles off
course // Of course you had to steer // Daylight // Reveals uncharted ocean to
your soul // On each horizon's the illusion of control // Let me take the helm and
then move with my direction // In this forbidden realm I am the only way // I'll be
the wind to lift your sails // I will not fail to be your power and your guide //
You're like a ship adrift on seas of discontent // You were not meant //
To drift from me // Land ho // And you didn't know // It was right there all the
time // You followed treasure maps // And ways of your design // But winds blow //
The years show // The thought begins to cross your mind // Your way to get
ahead has you lost and far behind // I made and placed the stars I don't need
them for direction // But I want your heart then I'll lead you to the shore // I'll be
the wind to lift your sails // I will not fail to be your power and your guide //
You're like a ship adrift on seas of discontent // You were not meant //
To drift from me // You know some day your bow will bend // And though you're
way too proud you'll call to me and then // I'll be the wind to lift your sails // I
will not fail to be your power and your guide // You're like a ship adrift on
seas of discontent // You were not meant // To drift from me // So all alone
in this world you know // I'll be your wind I'll carry you // I'll take you home

Imagine My Surprise

Written By: G. S. Sloyer

You haunt me // You visit in my dreams each night // Then vanish in the ?rst light
of the coming day // Another day // They taunt me // Just when I think I can let
go // The memories play and tease me no you won’t today // Another day //
Wondering if you ever think of me // Wishing I knew then what now is plain to
see // How can it be // That I could know // How to get to Never Land // With
only metaphor in hand // Yet I could not understand // Where this road
would lead // That I could see // The end of dreams and be tough as nails //
That dead men live on in their tales // But I failed to see dead ends can
paralyze // Imagine my surprise // Is what I thought could never be // Just self-
ful?lling prophecy // Possibly // I’m sure you’d disagree // They haunt me // The
lack of stock in what was said // Your back is turned I’m left for dead // I pose no
threat // I’ve shown you great respect // And so it goes repeatedly // Day after day
when shadows rise // In the theater of my mind // The mystery plays // How can it
be // That I could know // How to get to Never Land // With only metaphor in
hand // Yet I could not understand // Where this road would lead // That I
could see // Dead men really do tell tales // You don’t need wind to lift your
sails // That time can ?y and yet stand still // But there are wounds it cannot
heal // Yet I failed to see the pain in this goodbye // Now it’s waiting for me
almost every night // When I close my eyes // Imagine my surprise
