Bio
Roos Galjaard (1973) started singing and playing the guitar at an early age, and began performing her own songs when she was sixteen, first in the Netherlands, later on in Southern Africa. In addition to her solo work she started the band Gather Roses in 1995, while she was studying geography in Groningen, the Netherlands. Roos writes atmospheric, powerful songs each performed with passion and commitment. After some line up changes, Gather Roses now is: Lielian Tan (drums and backing vocals), Wiro Jacobs (bass and backing vocals) and Job Wiegant (accordeon, keyboard and guitar), with often seen guestmusicians Obed Brinkman (trombone) and Sebastiaan Wiering (cello). Together they merge influences from folk, jazz, pop and world music into pure music whereby times other than quadruple are not avoided. In a creative way, each songs is arranged, subtle and strongly in the embracement of her warm voice.
After ‘Beautiful World’ in 1998 and ‘Together’ in 2001, Roos released a solo album ("I am Water") in July 2010 with songs that she wrote in the period 2002-2009 which received very positive reviews in Dutch popmagazines. In 2011 Gather Roses works on a new CD which will be released in autumn of the same year.
Roos, Lielian, Wiro and Job are experienced musicians and performers, and together they combine to provide an evening’s entertainment that is thoughtful, varied and highly satisfying. Gather Roses is available for live shows. Please contact us for more information.
