If the surname "Danzig" doesn't guarantee success in garage rock, then I don't know what will. Brothers Chris and Peter Danzig certainly thought so. Their new power trio — formed with drummer Jeff Schroeder — specializes in bluesy chord changes and heavy-hammering rock rhythms. Sometime Express contributor Chris plays bass, Peter serves as frontman, and they split the writing duties evenly. Right now Peter's voice is young and tart and twangy, but it will eventually morph into a guttural bellow. - East Bay Express

When Gavilan started playing together last year, the trio simply wanted to make music that would make people feel something. Gavilan plays raw, heartfelt rock but never becomes trite or self-indulgent.
Brothers Peter, Chris and Jeff grew up together, raised on diverse but heavy diets of music. Their influences range from Tom Petty to Joy Division to The Doors and Between The Buried and Me.
The band writes songs together, which easy to do with a two decades of shared experiences behind them. Jeff's hyperactive drum fills, Peter's soulful singing and Chris's classic, bluesy bass truly make a unique combination.
They've been compared to the Black Keys, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Band of Skulls and more, but one thing is for sure. Gavilan is only three people, but these guys make a lot of noise.
