Born in North Carolina into a family of diverse musicians, Gavin was introduced to many different styles and tastes of music. Although his roots are deeply steeped in the Soul and R&B of the seventies and early eighties, Gavin found his niche in Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. Gavin's approach to playing drums is much akin to that of a guitarist's approach in that he plays riffs, not beats. While working the "circuits" of the East Coast Metal and Hardcore scene in high school, Gavin was able to travel extensively. He has shared the stage with such artists as Sick of it All, Biohazard, Sepultura, Earth Crisis, and Burn the Priest (now Lamb of God). Later on he moved to California to broaden and enrich his musical career. While in California he switched gears, to a degree, and joined Mystique: Element of Soul, a hugely popular R&B and Dance group. He is now fusing all of his musical worlds in the form of The Anomaly, Rat City Riot, and Day of Suffering.
