Gavin Walker

BandCountryBlues

I call it "modern, folk, country, blues, rock, jazz". I'm mainly influenced by the blues but I grew up listening to country so I guess it's in the veins and I aint gonna fight it.

Biography

I've been writing songs since I was about 14 and started learning to play about the same time. I'd like to think that my music is ecclectic although most people tell me it's country. I can live with that. There's always been room for a boogie woogie at the ho-down. I was heavily into blues in the eighties and nineties then started to drift into Jazzy stuff and ballads. I just write all the time and try to let each song have its own story through the music.

Lyrics

Nimbin 28-7-07

Written By: Gavin Walker

Nimbin, New South Wales
September, sunny days
Drivin' through the hills
Nimbin's in a haze

Lost souls, lost goals
searchin' for the key
What in heaven does it take
to find identity?

so much pain and sorrow
everywhere I gaze
somethin' isn't right here
Nimbin's in a haze

Broken spirit, broken jaw
Lookin for a high
wanna be like someone else
some one who knows why

Tryin' to be cool coz it's the rule
it's what you do
A way to lift the fog from in the brain
Trin' to decide which fuckin' shirt to wear today
aint only Nimbin in a haze

Tryin' to decide which direction to take
aint only Nimbin in a haze

After all this time

Written By: Gavin Walker

After all this time
I still dream of you
And after all this time
You’re still in my heart

After all this time
I still want you, Baby
And after all this time
I still ache inside
After all this time

After all this time

After all this time
I still hold you
After all this time
I still ache inside
After all these years
You still look the same
After all this time

After all this time

I still need you
I still feel you
I still see you
I still hear you

The Hunger

Written By: Gavin Walker

It’s like a hunger deep inside
You can no longer run and hide
It’s like the walls are closin’ in
Like there’s nowhere to begin
It’s like a hunger burnin deep inside

It’s like you’ve wasted every chance
And how they loved to watch you dance
It’s like you’re always outa’ reach
Like they practice what they preach
It’s like you’ve wasted every single chance

It’s like you never get the prize
It’s like a hunger deep inside
Aching to reveal
What you really feel
It’s like you never ever get the prize

It’s like no one understands
Your whole world is restin’ in their hands
And when you finally find it
You gotta walk behind it
It’s like no one ever seems to understand

funny thing 'bout love

Written By: Gavin Walker

funny thing 'bout love

funny thing 'bout love'
once you find it
you don't need it anymore

funny thing 'bout love,
you don't need it
'till it walks right out your door

I don't mind you leavin'
there's just one thing
I must say...
I don't mind you treatin' me
like some one
who should pay

oh, you've got so much to learn
oh, why must the fire still burn

funny thing 'bout love,
once you find it
you don't need it anymore

I remember everything
and all the things
you said
I don't mind broken promises
it's like that
in the end

oh, you've got so much to learn
oh, why must the fire sill burn

funny thing 'bout love,

I listen to your story
It's a sad one I must say
No guts, aint got no glory
maybe there's a better way

oh, you've got so much to learn

funny thing 'bout love,
once you fid it
you don't need it anymore

Discography

I have recorded three albums under the name Loungelizardz Studios: Passageway in 2005, Souvenir 07 last year and I am completing a third album which I haven't decided on a name for yet...will be out soon.

Set List

I usually play a fair bit of blues covers, seventies eighties and nineties and throw in a couple of originals in each set. It depends what the crowd is into, I have played country all night in a few outback ....I was gunna say towns, but...anyway, you get the idea.
