Bio

It was a chance meeting in the winter of 2009 that brought Chi-Town MC Xception and Dutch producer G-DO together to begin what has now been two and a half years of continuously making music. The two met in G-DO’s hometown of Amsterdam in the last week of Xception’s stay of over six months, but it only took the last three days of that week for them to record their first album. After some careful quality control, they decided to keep that first one for themselves and brought the Hip Hop world Mood of the Music on July, 26th 2010 off Goal Records. Although the album went largely unnoticed by mainstream media, it was highly praised by critics around the world.

G-DO & Xception have a work ethic that would appear to be forged from decades of grind and consequently they have been creating music at an astounding rate. In the midst of working on their follow-up to Mood of the Music they recorded a tribute song to Fela Kuti, the legendary Nigerian musician and composer, pioneer of Afrobeat music and human rights activist. What started out as a song, soon turned into a full ten-track album entitled A Tribute to Fela Kuti: Felatastic. G-DO and Xception had long been avid listeners and devotees of the Afrobeat king, so making this tribute album was a spontaneous process as they found themselves possessed by the “spirit of the shrine.”

The duo have already completed their full-length sophomore album, Sankofa, due to be released in the summer of 2011 and with another album already in the works plus a handful of other projects in the mix, be ready to get familiar with the sounds of G-DO & Xception for some time to come.

Xception has been writing lyrics since 1996 and G-DO has been producing music since 2003.
