Bio

Contemporary R&B Gospel Artist

Geanetta Heard's passion is to create music that can heal the weary soul of people of every age and nationality. As a singer/songwriter, she wants people to be encouraged and uplifted when they listen to her music. She makes herself transparent by writing about her experiences. She says, “No experience is for nothing. I know that God would want me to share my encounters to help his people understand that he is the answer to all of their problems.”

Her gospel influences are Damita Haddon, Trinitee 5:7 and Mary Mary, who flaunt their R & B touch to gospel music. She admires BeBe & CeCe and Vicky Winans, who maintain longevity in producing quality Gospel music. Geanetta's
R & B vocal influences include the laidback and sweet sounds of Deniece Williams and Chante Moore, with the drive and energy of Chaka Khan. Geanetta also loves the voice and songwriting style of Alicia Keys.

Geanetta is a native North Carolinian who grew up in the small city of Henderson. At an early age she realized her love for music and excelled in it. Her talent of singing was used in her local church, community, and school. In her senior year, she won the National Choral Award and was awarded a trip to perform in the All-State Chorus. After graduation she attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, where she earned a B.S. in Business Marketing. While there, she toured with the University Choir.

After graduation, she relocated to the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area where she was a member of the gospel ensemble “Great Change.” “Great Change” was an essential piece of the puzzle that stirred her desire to want to sing for the Lord. While with this group, she graced the Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center, did opening acts for John P. Kee and William Becton and Friends during the University for the District of Columbia Homecoming, a small three minute part at the Warner Theater for the play, “Why Do Good Girls Love Bad Boys,” and a Source One event in Greenville, North Carolina, featuring John Butler. Geanetta has done engagements outside of “Great Change,” one of them being a vital engagement with premier tenor Duane Adolph Moody of “Three Mo Tenors. Accompanied with others, they opened up for the late Timothy Wright as a part of the Spirit of Washington WYCB Radio Summer Gospel Cruise.

Geanetta has been a part of two album releases. Being a part of the duo named “EnHarmony,” the “Heartfelt” project dropped in September 2005, featuring two songs that ministers to the soul: “What If” and “Waiting.” She released with the trio “Just Breathe” in February 2009 a five song EP entitled, “Resuscitate,” which featured the melodic and reflective song, “Meditate.” The group “Just Breathe” was a participant in the Back to School Bash in Henderson, North Carolina, where Ty Tribbitt blessed the crowd with his ministry. With these groups, the songs she wrote were an emotional testament to her personal faith. “I write from the heart and my experiences make the music personal,” said Geanetta. “When writing my songs, I show my love for God and the persistence I have in fulfilling his purpose for me.” Geanetta has created songs that are filled with edgy grooves and moving ballads while maintaining the integrity of the spiritual message. A prime example would be “My Father Cares,” which will be featured on her upcoming project.

Over the years, Geanetta has been a part of many groups and has gained valuable knowledge and experience for her upcoming journey. Geanetta began her solo journey in early 2010 and is currently preparing to release the single, “You Can Come Home” before her solo album debut. These songs have a blend of infectious beats and melodic harmonies that will stand the test of time. With hip-hop rhythms and traditional R&B flavor, Geanetta's music is filled with lyrical messages of hope, encouragement, and love. It is important to her that people hear the word of God while enjoying music. Whether the listener prefers his or her music smooth or hard-driving, he or she will be blessed. “My upcoming project reflects my growth as a singer/ songwriter," says Geanetta, “and I can't wait to bless the world with this gift God has given me.”
