Lyrics

It's not that I still love you

Written By: Tersia Parsons

On boring rainy days
I do a web search for your name
Just a casual inquiry
To the fate of an old flame

I know it won’t be you
Who is calling on the phone
Just because it says
the caller is unknown

Saw a show on Oprah
On old lovers reunited
Of course that won’t be us
Some things just can’t be righted

It’s not that I still love you
It’s not that I still care
I’m not crying in the rain,
Or pulling out my hair

It’s not that I still love you
I don’t really give a damn
I’m doing very well, thanks
I am, I am, I am

It just feels as if biology, psychology
and now technology
Is saying I might fix our tragedy
with one more sweet apology.

Last night on the radio
They played your favourite song
Must have been just habit
That made me sing along

I seem to get all viruses
Passing through the Net
Just can’t resist opening
Every e-mail that I get

Your photo was in Business Day
You’re moving up quite fast
Just an arbitrary flutter
For a smile from the past

It’s not that I still love you
It’s not that I still care
It’s not that I go looking for
Your car everywhere

It’s not that I still love you
I don’t really give a damn
I’m doing very well, thanks
I am, I am, I am

It just feels …

On boring rainy days
I do a web search for my name
To see what would come up
If you ever did the same

Wild Wind

Written By: Tersia Parsons

Sweet was the summer
Warm was the rain
Good was the day
The day that you came

Soft was the laughter
Gone was the shame
Good was the day
The day that you came

Chorus (2x)
Let the wild wind blow
Let the bright river flow
Let the shadows dance free
For they cannot touch me

We were a castle, were a home
We were a country of our own.
We were a universe of two
We could see each other through.

Cruel was the summer
Cold was the rain
Sad was the day
That you went away

Quiet the laughter
Hungry my heart
Sad was the day
That drove us apart

Chorus 2x
See the wild wind blow
See the dark river flow
See the shadows dance free
Keep them away from me (Second time: They are catching up on me)

We were a castle, we were a home
We were a country of our own.
We were a universe of two
But won’t see each other through

Bleak are the summers
Sad are the rains
Gone is the hope
That eased the pain

Shallow the laughter
Empty my soul
Nothing to live for
No one to hold

Dis net soms (It's only sometimes)

Written By: Tersia Parsons

Please note: English translation follows at the end of the Afrikaans words.

Die liefde is ‘n ou cliché
Lankal reeds moeg gery
Lekker lieg oor altyd saam
En iets oor sterre en die maan

Ek lag so bietjie in my mou
As mense praat van ewig trou
Almal weet mos wat gebeur
Maar glo dis anders hierdie keer

Wellus word so mooi vermom
As magic tussen haar en hom
So hou tog maar jou make-up aan

Iemand by wie ek kan kla

Iemand wat my toe sal gooi
En iemand wat sal sê ek’s mooi

En net soms in die middel van die dag
Dat ek wens ek kon met iemand lag
Ja net soms in die middel van die dag
Dat ek wens ek kon met iemand lag

Iemand wat my storie ken
Nie net wonder wie die stryd gaan wen
Iemand by wie ek kan leer
En iemand wat soos ek probeer (3x)

English translation:

It’s only sometimes

Love is but an old cliché
It’s meaning lost along the way.
A lovely lie about together forever
And something about stars and the moon.

Sometimes I snigger behind my hand
When people talk about being forever true.
Although everyone knows what’s bound to happen
They still believe it will be different this time round.

Lust is so sweetly disguised
As magic between her and him.
But better keep you make-up on
For he might just fail the test.

It’s just sometimes
In the middle of the night
That I wish I were waiting for someone.

Someone who will lock the doors
And make sure that the dog is out.
Someone who will rub my neck
And someone’s familiar body.

And just sometimes
In the middle of the day
That I wish I had someone to laugh with.

Someone who would get the joke -
Who will laugh until there his eyes tear up.
Someone I can complain to
And someone who asks me lovely things.

The unknown attracts you -
That something you don’t quite understand.
But eventually time explains everything
And love becomes monotonous mating.

The jackals start off small
But still the vineyard get destroyed.
Her body quickly becomes too round
And he still chews his food with an open mouth.

Dredging up old quarrels
that suffocate the love that’s left.
One for you and one for me.
Who will get the children then?

It’s just sometimes
In the middle of the night
That I wish I were waiting for someone.

Someone who will switch off the light
And sometimes say a little prayer for me.
Someone who will tuck me in
And tell me that I’m beautiful.

And just sometimes
In the middle of the day
That I wish I had someone to laugh with.

Someone who knows my story
And who isn’t just in it to see who will win.
Someone I can learn from
And someone who tries, like me.
