"Of Local Note - by entertainment writer, Rick de Yampert"

"Eat A Beat" CD
Vital Stats: Palm Coast based modern rock band featuring a nucleous of singer Lizzie Floyd, guitarist Pat Floyd and keyboardist Tommy P., plus bassist Stan Helfenstens and for live gigs, drummer Jason Mosley. The music: Move over, Alanis Morissette and Tori Amos- you don't have a monopoly on edgy, new millennium-worthy chick rock. Like those artists, (formerly Fragile Ex) Gems Of The Curbstone singer Lizzie Floyd has one of those now siren-like, drama-mama voices, one that makes you glad that she (or her alter-ego) has decided to work out her neuroses in song rather than confide in some shrink. That's true whether she's addressing the Bigh Guy Upstairs as on "Dear God" , cataloging a multitude of childhood personalities as on "Pink and Blue", or looking inward on "Welcome To My World". Ohter songs - "Crush," "Cum Az U R" and the pogo dance -worthy "Y to K" - are delicious alterna-pop in the mode of HOle or No Doubt. Throughout, Pat Floyd and Tommy P. know when to turn to ghostly, carnivalesque techno sounds, or rely on good ol' crunchy sweet guitars.
