Like an artist with a broad palate, or a chef with a variety of spices, I am influenced by different styles of music. My songs are Americana Roots music that elevate your attitude with upbeat tunes. Three part harmonies with Alia, Wade and myself permeate throughout the songs.

Biography

From a young age, music has always been a way to express myself. While I grew up on rock & roll, I was also drawn to blues, jazz, folk, bluegrass and reggae. Add in other music from around the world and you get an idea of how I've been influenced from countless musicians of many genres.
My songs will give you insight into who I am, while hopefully uplifting you.

Lyrics

Too Much Of Texas

Written By: Gene Fintz

I heard them sing about Houston
And Dallas too
Every place in the Lone Star state
That they've been through
Crying about the love they lost
Have another brew
I've had too much of Texas
And not enough of you.

I listen to the radio
Here comes another song
A Texas woman leaving home
He done her wrong
Or how he loves jamming gears
In a full moon
I've had too much of Texas
And not enough of you.

Not enough of your precious love
To keep me satisfied
Not enough of your open arms
That hold me in the night
And that is why
I can't take another Texas song
For long.

I've never been to Austin
Or down the Rio Grande
I used to wear my cowboy boots
But lately I just can't
And if I hear another song
I don't know what I'll do
I've had too much of Texas
And not enough of you.

That's The Kind Of Loving I Love

Written By: Gene Fintz

When you come to me in the morning
That's the kind of loving I love
And you kiss me without warning
That's the kind of loving I love
When you shower me with affection
You got me moving in the right direction
And when you hold me
That's the kind of loving I love.

When I come home and you see me
That's the kind of loving I love
I open my arms and you squeeze me
That's the kind of loving I love
No matter what we've been through
We always know what to do
And when you hold me
That's the kind of loving I love.

It's not that it always easy
It's hard when you're not there
It's the way that you please me
It's how much we both really care.

When it's the right time of the evening
That's the kind of loving I love
When we can share what we're feeling
That's the kind of loving I love
It's a life worth living
When I can give you everything
And when you hold me
That's the kind of loving I love.

Piece Of The Pie

Written By: Gene Fintz

I feel I've seen a life or two
Get saved in the nick of time
And every love I've ever lost
Had meaning between the lines

I've knocked on doors
When no one's home
I've called when no one's there
The times I've waited for a piece of the pie
I've taken more that my share

Oh oh, piece of the pie
Oh oh, piece of the pie

You've got to go for what you know
What you know you can do
And give yourself a better chance
By seeking out the truth

Don't you push the panic button
When things don't work out right
Just open up your oven
And pull out another pie

Oh oh, piece of the pie
Oh oh, piece of the pie

I opened up my heart to one
Who could not look me in the eye
I gave my soul to another one
That I could not satisfy

But now I found a new "old friend"
She keeps me warm inside
I've got to cure my appetite
For another piece of pie

Oh oh, piece of the pie
Oh oh, piece of the pie.

Get A Grip On This

Written By: Gene Fintz

I'm not trying to tell you
How to run your life
What you believe in
Is your own right
Sometimes what makes sense to me
Doesn't to you
You're so matter-of-factly right
That I don't have a clue

Get a grip on this
Get a grip on this
Get a grip on this
The change might do you good

You can put your faith in others
Who don't really care
It's the nature of the business
That keeps you lying there
Trust yourself enough to know
That you can make it right
Sit there in the darkness
Or turn on the light

Get a grip on this
Get a grip on this
Get a grip on this
The change might do you good

There's only so much
That I can say or do
It's only my opinion
But I hope it's getting through
It can always be better
On this we can agree
Do something about it
Or just let it be

Get a grip on this
Get a grip on this
Get a grip on this
The change might do you good

It Gets Better

Written By: Gene Fintz

Every time I start to feel a litlle off
Or this boat I'm steering
Goes on a different course
Water gets choppy
The wind swirls around my head
And all I want to do
Is crawl back into bed

The moon comes up
And the stars still shine at night
The sun also rises
And puts it all in a different light

It gets better
It gets better
It gets better
When it can't get no worse

Every time things get a little bit confused
And every situation just gives you the blues
Time to start turning it all around
Stand up
Breathe deep
Put your two feet on the ground

The moon comes up
And the stars still shine at night
The sun also rises
And puts it all in a different light

It gets better
It gets better
It gets better
When it can't get no worse

It's Got To Go

Written By: Gene Fintz

It's a no win situation
You might be wearing a frown
You ask,"Why is it always me?"
You better look around
You're not the only one
And you know this won't last
You need to concentrate
So this feeling will pass

It's got to go
It's got to go
No matter how young
No matter how old
It's got to go
It's got to go
That negative attitude
Has got to go

It may be a relationship
It could be your work
You can change your lifestyle
You can change your shirt
You may have lost yourself
Along the way
Or you're just out of control
Do what is right for you
And good for your soul

It's got to go
It's got to go
No matter how young
No matter how old
It's got to go
It's got to go
That negative attitude
Has got to go

I Go On

Written By: Gene Fintz

When my head gets filled
With excess baggage
Weighing me down
When the levels of stress
Keep on rising
Electricity without a ground
I look for the strength
Within myself
To smooth a rough edge
I tell myself
It will be all right
And I climb back into bed

And I go on
I go on
I go on
I go on

There's places and faces
I see every day
Sometimes I need a change
A horse of a different color
A song with a new refrain
My love of life
Is a universe
Bursting a billion stars
My love for you is endless
Deep within my heart

And I go on
I go on
I go on
I go on

Was It Love

Written By: Gene Fintz

You could hook all the fish
That you want to catch
You could open the door
Undo the latch
Search for one
Or just mix and match
With your heart

You could spend a lifetime
Playing the field
Hoping each time
This is for real
Enjoy the snacks
But the meal's the best part

Was it love
If it got up and walked away
Was it love
If it left you with nothing to say
Feeling low
But you'll soon be OK
Someone new will come along
And take you away

You could lay in the sun
Or sit in the shade
You could jump right in
Or still be afraid
You could leave now
Or you could stay right there

Whatever you do
Will be just fine
There's nothing to lose
With love on the line
But love is best
With someone who cares

Was it love
If it got up and walked away
Was it love
If it left you with nothing to say
Feeling low
But you'll soon be OK
Someone new will come along
And take you away
