Bio

“No matter what happens, I always want music to have a place in my life,” says Crown College student Gene Iserman. The Minnesotan singer/songwriter’s hard-working yet easy going mentality shines through in the diverse stylings of his craft, as he doesn’t seem to fit into one certain genre. Iserman desires to make more than just feel-good music, saying that everything he writes should be for a significant purpose and should touch people on an emotional level. Ever since he narrowed his focus on acoustic guitar, Gene delved into the artistry that is music. Iserman’s craft has been influenced by guitar greats such as Keith Urban and Andy Mckee, while his sound as been likened to Jason Mraz, Casting Crowns and Eric Clapton. Whether he’s playing intricate guitar parts or hand-clap choruses, Iserman is self-assured and has a likable energy both on and off stage.
Although he’s rooted deeply into a musical family, Iserman has yet to find an adventure he doesn’t like. He describes himself as very “traditional,” yet in the same breath can tell about his hunting or ice fishing trips. Or, how about that one summer he kayaked solo down a good portion of the Mississippi River? If adventure is out there, Gene Iserman will certainly seek it out. His “why not?” attitude translates throughout who he is and what he does. There is a certain curiosity about him that makes you wonder what he’ll try next.
During his semester at the Contemporary Music Center in Nashville, Tennessee, Iserman has taken risks and learned from spending solo hours in the recording studio. Taking every opportunity he could, even in the wee hours of the night, Gene chased idea after idea and taught himself how to lay down tracks. There’s no telling where the creativity will lead.
