"Gene Loveland at The Mint"

Gene Loveland is a talented, engaging artist with songs that are at times insightful, poignant and even whimsical. The organic nature of his delivery could be described as a Springsteen & Dylan combo-plate.

"Gene Loveland at the Roxy in West Hollywood"

Gene Loveland is performing songs which could be said to a be a mix of Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan as filtered through a band like the Cure. This is bleak material about the ironies of life. Not all of the songs are depressing, but, for the most part they are about life's disappointments. Often times, with songs like these, the listener tends to shy away from the feelings behind them, but this is not the case with Loveland's music. Loveland invites the listener in, to share in the emotions and feel at home with the material. - Music Connection Magazine-Jon Pepper

Bio

Singer-Songwriter-Musician Gene Loveland grew up in the small town of Glenoma, Washington. From the start, he took to his parents’love of country music-listening to artists such as Johnny Cash and Hank Williams. Gene picked up the guitar when he was 4 years old and began to emulate the likes of the amazing artists he watched on TV with his family. And before long, at age 5, Gene discovered the man in black leather with hair to match that would become his idol – Elvis Presley. It was from that day on that Gene knew exactly what he was meant to do. By age eight, he started winning talent shows in nearby towns, which further convinced him of what he was to become. Through out his school years he began to play with other local musicians and fine-tune his musical gifts.
At 21, Art Ford from Capital Records sought Gene out to be the lead singer in a new, younger version of the band Eagles. It was that moment that inspired him to do what he had always planned – head for Los Angeles. Gene created industry buzz with both of his alternative country rock bands – The Hillbilly Homeboys and Weeds. His vocal talent has been compared to that of Springsteen, Mellencamp and Ryan Adams. He has also been noted for his guitar and harmonica abilities. In 2005, Gene ventured out to start his solo career; and can be found playing in premier singer-songwriter venues such as Genghis Cohen, The Roxy, and Room 5 Lounge, most recently he has been chosen by KBH Entertainment's Brent Harvey as one of the singer/songwriters to be showcased in front of music industry labels, managers and music supervisors coming up in October.
Jon Pepper of Music Connection magazine wrote: “Gene Loveland is performing songs which are said to be a mix of Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan. This is bleak material about the ironies of life. Not all of the songs are depressing, but, for the most part, they are about life’s disappointments. Loveland’s material invites the listener in, to share in the emotions and feel at home. This is very well written music with a wealth of influences and roots.”
Recently, Gene has been looking for another challenge for his creativity and has started working in the acting field. In addition to working in some independent films and music videos, Gene decided he wanted to write a screen play based on one of his songs, “If It Kills Me”. He enlisted friend James Kiriyama-Lem to co-write the screen play which they are now co-producing together. They have formed Golden Key Films – a production company that now creates a visual medium for his soulful words and music.
Today, Gene, who resides in Venice, California feels God has blessed him with his wife of nine years and four children, where he works as a visual artist creating story boards, murals, and commissioned artwork, while also continuing to create wonderful songs that everyone can relate to - great Americana Rock music.
Thanks for listening.
