Bio

Generalized Other (G.O.) is the evolutionary result of the recent state of music. They are young. They have
power. G.O. speaks to the part of each of us that wants to reach out and say something to the world. Their music is wailing, in the same sense that upset babies wail. The bass driven beats of G.O. bring together an unparalleled blend of indie rock and hip-hop - upsetting the collective consciousness of their listeners. Influences include: The Roots, Nirvana, DJ Shadow, Tool, Rage Against the Machine, and Atmosphere.

Created by Matty Schelling (drums) and Matt Clifford (bass) in 2000, G.O. has grown from, but never forgotten it’s drum & bass roots. The freaky diversity and magnificent backdrop of the Colorado Rocky Mountains has exposed G.O. to a wide array of music, artists, and inspiration.

In 2003, with the addition of lead guitarist Kevin
“K-Solo” Clifford, G.O. now had someone to help create
the song melodies. Instrumentals became a canvas for
Richie “Small Hands” Wallace (MC for Subsurface at the
time). G.O. then played several hip-hop shows before
the band experienced a temporary separation.

In 2005, singer-songwriter Matthew South joined G.O.,
as they were reuniting. South’s music style took
G.O.’s sound in a slightly new direction, adding more
complex musicality. Months later Small Hands became
a full time band member. Since, Generalized Other has written over 25 original songs, released an independent
album, and is poised to record another.
