Genesis Fermin

Like the seashore to the sea, ever changing but always in contact with this world we’re living in. Genesis Fermin is not your chain outlet of musical treats but an unusual and original songwriter and musician. Hailing from the thousand islands of the Philippines and occupying the northern portion of this California landscape, Ms. Fermin sees uniquely this universe we are hobnobbing in. Her vision is more her exploration of what she sees and what she hears and most importantly what she touches.

There is no easy way to explain the roller coaster life of Genesis Fermin. She has passed through the Filipino Family Tree like most of us pass through elementary school. And then she adjusted to Los Angeles, L.A. – no easy mark wandering in la la land and keeping out of the stereotypical artist pumped out by Disney. Now north, she is unique in that she can hold her homeland taken in solidly in one hand and interpret the multiple injustices of this land on the other hand. She is dexterous with her music. These are no ordinary creations coming from an ordinary mind. Her breadth of work is vast but poignant and perceptive at the same time. Come along on the journey easily enjoyed not easily forgotten. She’s over there adroitly holding the mirror.
