Bio
Gen Gorman is a singer/songwriter hailing from Toronto, ON. Her 2014 debut EP big serf, recorded by Ian Blurton, charted nationally on college radio (#41), garnered a 'Chart Discovery' from CMJ, and helped earn her festival slots at NxNE and Scenefest. Once again teaming up with Ian Blurton, her latest EP For A Friend picks up where big serf left off, offering five compelling tracks that span from alt-rock to power-pop.
Since releasing big serf, Gen has formed a more permanent line-up, with her live band -- Mary Strazzeri (Sista Fista), Chris Dickey (Rehab For Quitters) and Sean Currell -- also joining her in the studio. The result is an EP whose five songs have been gigged, reworked, and road tested. Lyrically, the subject matter touches on suburban gothic ("Joe (You Gotta Save Yourself)"), to the occult ("The Odds"), to falling into a complicated love ("Inhaling").
2017 will find Gen performing solo and with the band throughout Ontario with plans for a cross-Canada run in the works.
