Bio

GENIE SLICK

Born Elisia Ellis, this young lady's talent was evident from a young age. At the age of 13, she performed her first stage show in Spanish Town, Jamaica after charming the M.C. who later called her on stage. The crowd's response was overwhelmingly positive, and from that moment, the once kindled fire became a roaring flame. Genie Slick knew she was destined for fame. After the show, this brazen young talent boldly introduced herself to Freddie McGregor, who gave her mother a business card.

Genies Slick's first recording experience was at McGregor's Big Ship Studio. Even though the single was never released, Genie Slick's faith in herself could not be shattered. She continually found herself backstage before a show, approaching the M.C. or other entertainers in order to ensure herself moments in the spotlight. Although encouraged by Lady Saw, who never hesitated to share the spotlight with this budding young talent, Genie Slick was unfortunately taken from Jamaica to live in Barbados. Ever versatile, ever sure of her talent and destiny, she ventured into the Soca scene, capturing Barbados with her Soca energy. It was during this time that she once again found her way backstage before Shaggy was set to perform. She was then introduced to Colin Levy of Kings of Kings Production who was the promoter of the event. Since Mr. Levy was recording in Jamaica, she was encouraged to come to Jamaica and record her demo.

Returning to Jamaica she did not miss a beat, and once again began her foray into reggae music. Her desire was not only to perform but also to create music, so she started taking guitar lessons. One year later, she advanced remarkably well with her new musical endeavor. Genie Slick released singles entitled Every Girl and following that with Guiding Light by U.S. producer, Eddie Gypsy Stokes with a maxi single.

Genie Slick has recorded songs with leading Jamaican artist Capleton, Elephant Man, Beenie Man, and a host of artist. She has toured extensively through the United States, the Caribbean, and Europe with Beres Hammond, Maxie Priest, Marcia Griffiths. Coco Tea, Iley Dread, Chrisinti, Norris Man, and other artist. She completed an album for Kings of Kings entitled The Word is Out, and her second album, I'm Invincible is due out this summer on August 9, 2009.

Genie Slick has flowered into an impeccable artist whose stage presence is commanding and full of energy like a young Tina Turner. She is looking forward to working with some of the hottest producers in the industry. She is also working towards catching the interest of a major record company who is looking for a well rounded, talented, artist and musician. Currently, she is completing her her latest material. Writer, composer, guitarist, arranger, and most of all, top-notch entertainer. This is one star whose time has come to shine.
