GENIUS AND THE THIEVES / In Technicolor / 2010
Genius and the Thieves are a 5-man band from San Francisco, Ca. They released In Technicolor, a 5-song EP, this month (April 2010), following a 2-year hiatus.
From the outset, the first track “Quart of Blood Technique” (which takes its name from an Eddie Murphy line in Trading Places) comes on strong, teeming with energy, with a sing-along sensibility that makes the band sound like an indie pop band that’s already famous.
Each song maintains their bold, upbeat sound, with undertones ranging from blues rock to indie pop to classic rock. Track 3, Anywhere But Here channels Jack White with some heavy guitar work, while Walking Away has more of a blues-y ballad feel. Quiet closes out the disc with a slower, weightier song that still keeps the power on and the sound strong.
Sounds Like: White Stripes, Franz Ferdinand, The Killers, Bloc Party, Portugal the Man.

Bio
Genius and the Thieves are five guys who love what they do.
Having spent the majority of their lives in and out of bands all over the musical spectrum, Genius and the Thieves got serious in late 2008 and brought what was once a side project into focus. Now they spend most of their time making rock and roll with a distinct indie edge and drinking fancy beers.
Their live shows have been called fearless and full of raw energy. Dance parties and sing alongs usually ensue.
