"Review"

"... I was surprised that EVERYONE doesn't know who this fellow is -White is an A-list guitarist with a sound very reminiscent of Lifeson and Hendrix, and at the same time manages to avoid the all to popular pitfall of noodling for noodling's sake." - Michael Askounes, All About Jazz Magazine

"Geno White Burning Up the Boiler Room"

"Cape May: Maybe the Boiler Room wouldn't be so steamy if Geno White wasn't in there heating up the crowds. Catch his smoking act tonight at 9 p.m., or dial (609) 884-8421 for more info. Bring a frie extinguisher if you know what's good for you." - Atlantic City Press, At The Shore 8/19/2005

Bio

Cape May, New Jersey guitarist Geno White has
been blazing his own musical trail for over 40 years.
Called, "A complete original" by jazz guitar legend
Pat Martino, Geno has followed the creative muse down
many winding paths and dark alleys; always staying
true to his artistic vision. Geno was first turned on
to the guitar at the age of nine while on a family
outing to see his grandparents in Philadelphia. It
was there that he witnessed his grandfather drinking
whiskey and playing an electric guitar. As Geno tells
it, "This was the first fire." Within a year Geno had
his first electric guitar and by the age of eleven he
had formed his first trio. The turning point came on
April 12, 1969; when after much pleading, Geno's
father relented and took Geno and his bandmates to see
Hendrix at the Spectrum in Philadelphia. After
seeing Hendrix, Geno knew that music would be his
calling. Over the 38 years since that day Geno White
has rocked audiences from Cape May to Philadelphia to
Quebec City where he appeared onstage taking Mick
Tayor's place with Gong Revisited. Geno has been the
opening act for Leslie West, Brand X, Pat Martino,
NRPS, America and Gongzilla to name a few. He has
also appeared live onstage with such artists as
Carmine Appice, Leslie West, and Ronnie Earl. Geno's
credits also include releasing 6 independent cd's
including Music From Inside The Lighthouse, an
acoustic album which won 2 ASCAP awards for being the
1st album ever recorded inside a working lighhouse;
and Standing In Stereo, an intense Stratocaster driven
album which includes guitarist extroadinaire Harvey
Mandel on 3 tracks and was picked up by small indie
label Lolo Records after it's recording. Geno White
can be seen in clubs all over the Philadelphia/Jersey
Shore area. Some nights he can be heard playing his
Strat driven fusion with Geno White's Standing In
Stereo and other nights you can catch him with his
blues project Geno White's Blues Alive. And when
neither of those two bands are playing you can
probably catch him with his groove oriented Geno White
Trio or just playing a solo acoustic gig. To sum it
up, Pat Martino couldn't have been more correct when
he said it. "Geno White is a complete original."
