Jaded Past

“Live And On Edge” is the third album by Jaded Past. It is the first “live” record from the band and represents the energy they give to each performance. Over the past two years Jaded Past has played numerous shows including a few festivals and this record captures some of those for you. The album was mixed and produced by front man and singer George Becker and contains thirteen of the band’s powerful tunes. We hope you enjoy it. Turn it up and play it loud!

When the promo material shouted the words "Henry", "Lee" and "summer" at me, I was immediately interested, as I have a real fondness for poor ol' Henry Lee and his style of Country Rock. As a genre, it can be an odd beat, though; it can be fascinating and creative, like John Mellencamp used to do, all the way to samey and dull, just like Bon Jovi have been doing for far too long now. Jaded Past, the musical baby of vocalist/guitarist/song-writer George Becker, are stuck firmly at the end BJ used to be in, mixing a definite Country feel with a comfortable bit of Rocking thrown in.

George Becker himself has a suitably raspy set of pipes that bring to mind modern day Bret Michaels crossed with Jon Bon Jovi. Becker writes songs that cruise along with a summery feel just begging for a convertible with the top down and a mountain road. The BJ comparisons are unavoidable as 'Believe' could be the lost BJ album song-wise, the one they made before they got boring.

For example, 'Good, Bad, Innocent' has a wonderful upbeat feel, with lyrics that talk of days gone by and a sing-along chorus, and if that ain't a BJ recipe then I don't know what is; great song, either way. Becker also brings to the table a real knack for guitar solos throughout the album with every one seemingly crafted perfectly for the song that contains it. This may seem obvious but it stands out here more than on other albums.

'Believe' is up there with the best of this year's "summer" records and is a shoe in for anyone who likes their Rock with a Country feel but still hard enough to be called Rock. Stick this on in the car on a hot summer day and the miles will fly by. Definitely a little bit Country but with a lot of Rock 'n' Roll, Jaded Past should be put on your buy list today.

JADED PAST is back this year on the band’s 10th Anniversary with a new live album titled “Live And On Edge” (Melodic Rock Records). It features 13 live and raw tracks showcasing the bands high-energy live show and is culled from several venues across the USA. It gives fans a nice cross-section of the bands past studio material and is sprinkled in with a few classic cover songs by the likes of “Ziggy Stardust” (David Bowie), “Bye Bye Love” (The Cars) and “Mama Kin” (Aerosmith). If you haven’t heard Jaded Past before then I would describe their sound as classic hard rock and I always respected the band’s image as a straight-ahead American rock band. Having personally seen them perform at two of the shows featured on “Live And On Edge” (Melodic Rock Fest, Chicago, IL & Debonair Music Hall, Teaneck, NJ) it’s great to re-live moments from those concerts while sitting in my living room or cruising around in the car. The band featured on the record is guitarist Pete Fry, bassist Leo Sabatino, drummer Pete Giordano and of course main man and lead singer George Becker.

Highlight tracks include “Tattered” from the bands 2016 album “Believe” and “Whiskey Dreams” (also from “Believe”). Another track that is one of my favorites is “Mission” which the band released in 2019 as a stand-alone single. I simply love the lyrics of this track and it solidifies the band as a true American rock act and that couldn’t be more evident with a chorus like “Our mission is quite clear/we won’t back down from fear/From coast to coast from sea to sea let’s keep the faith and believe”.

Another nice addition to “Live And On Edge” is the track “Much Too Young”. It’s another track that the band released as a single back in 2018 after their 2016 “Believe” studio album. It’s a great song with a ripping guitar solo to boot.
