George

2014 is looking to be a busy year for George as they plan to return to the studio to record their follow up to 2009's Life in the Dead of Winter. After a baby and family induced hiatus, the band is eager to return to work. Currently in pre-production, the new material for the as-of-yet untitled full-length album will lean more towards a roots vibe, but will still maintain elements of the bands indie rock influences. Acoustic guitars, layered vocal harmonies, and a larger palette of instruments and sounds will take the work done on Life in the Dead of Winter to the next level.

The core of George is comprised of brothers Edward and Thomas Griffith with cousin Kevin Niez completing the family tree. Together they have been creating music for the last 15 years. Drummer and percussionist Scott Boms, who has recently moved to California, will continue to play a role in the new material as the band experiments with long distance recording sessions.

Previous incarnations of the band played live shows extensively through southern Ontario supporting bands such as The Pursuit of Happiness, Scratching Post, Supergarage and Clarknova. Previously released singles were well received by college and university radio and charted as high as No. 2 on CAPR in Sydney, N.S., while also finishing 14th in Q107s Annual Homegrown New Music Contest.
