George Breakfast

People hearing George’s songs for the first time, often suspect they have heard them before. His is real music, rhythm and melody, and lyrics that mean something. Time and again, in a noisy bar, George will start singing a song, and by the second verse, conversations are abandoned, and heads are turning curiously to look and listen. Listeners respond from the heart. Singers hear his songs and want to sing them.
George has been singing and playing instruments since he was a child. He began performing and writing songs as a teenager and has been doing
so ever since. He spent several years playing streets, bars and clubs in Europe and eventually New York in the 80s, where he became a central
figure in the then burgeoning roots music scene. Most famously this spawned the Holmes Brothers, Blues Traveller, Joan Osborne and the Spin Doctors. No less influential at the time were Jono Manson, The Worms, Eric 'Roscoe' Ambel, The Surreal McCoys, The World Famous Blue Jays,
The Blue Chieftains, Ron Sunshine and George's bands the Corn Flakes, Mumbo Gumbo(with Joe Flood) and supergroup The Dogs featuring the cream of this extraordinary cross pollinating extended family. George performed alongside all of these and songs he wrote at that time are
still being performed today. It is also in New York that he became known as George Breakfast.
Although he concentrates more on writing, recording and pitching songs these days, George still performs regularly in Cambridge UK where he
currently lives, and embarks on short tours both in mainland Europe and the US.
He has recently released a new CD, 'Keep 'em Coming', as one half of the Whateverly Brothers(http://www.myspace.com/whateverlybrothers), who plan to tour and promote their album during 2009. George also writes and performs songs for children.
