Bio

As a five year old, George Coutsoudis could not quite make out how he felt about his grandfather singing out loud to Greek music as he drove the streets of Johannesburg, South Africa. What possessed this old man to scream at the top of his lungs with shameless reckless abandon? It made people smile though.. and there the spark was struck. At 8 years old George's brother introduced him to Adam and the Ants, and the band had two drummers! This truly rocked the house, along with Adam's flamboyant use of Native American warpaint, Jimi Hendrix style jacket, and the gung- ho approach of the Ant Invasion. It was clear and simple... Music was a no holds barred avenue of expression and spirituality, and Georgie boy wanted a part of the magic.

At age ten George began playing Piano, and his love for Debussy, Shostakovitch, and Chopin led to his love for composing. He completing his Bachelor of Music in Composition, also studying Bel Canto opera technique. Discovering the marvels of Donizetti and Puccini, George enjoyed his voice classes, and upon landing a part in Menotti's One Act Comic opera The Telephone, George fell in love with communicating with an audience and telling a story. What a wonderful opportunity to tell a story through song. George moved to London nine years ago, and has made a living as an actor in Musical Theatre, working in the West End, On UK Tours, and in the Far East on ' Fame ' and ' Saturday Night Fever ' He has written an Original Musical ' Tarioni's Tinkerbox ', and music for a short film entitled 'The Resurrectionist'.

As a Singer-Songwriter, George feels his Greek roots come through a lot in the melody, but that his love for blues rhythm is vital to the feel. He can best describe the mood as Chunky Funky Folk, with a Mediterranean lilt.

George's grandfather Dimitri once spoke about the hardship and uphill of the life of a musician, but that was only once. The countless times he spoke about the joys of the music, the way it is the breath of life, the ultimate way to tell a story.. that is the essence George wishes to encapsulate in the music. Thank you for your time, and enjoy the stories, they are my gift to you.
