Bio

GEORGE HARATZOGLOU

I was born in Thessaloniki in 1971 and I started studying music from an early age.
During my teenage years, as a young singer/songwriter/guitarist, I composed many songs, played many concerts and did many recordings with various local bands.

Co-operations and concerts with other musicians :

From May, 1995 to April 2000, I was a member of the well-known music band “Manolis Famellos kai oi Podilates” (Manolis Famellos and the Bicyclists). At the same time, I cooperated with many well known artists: Vasilis Kazoulis, Nikos Ziogalas, Kostas Leivadas, Yiorgos Dimitriades, George Dalaras, Eleni Tsaligopoulou, Nikos Portokaloglou, Stathis Drogosis et al.

Co-operations for record production – Orchestrations – Productions – Soundtracks :

I participated as a musician and orchestrator in the following record productions:
• “Zontani Ihografisi stin Iera Odo II” (Live recording at “Iera Odos” II)(1997) - George Dalaras and other artists,
• “Mavri Agapi” (Black Love)(1998) - Manolis Famelos & Bicyclists,
• “Ston Vaggeli me agapi” (To Vangelis with love)(1998) - tribute to Vangelis Germanos.
• “Kathos mikrainei I mera” (As the day shortens) (1999) - Manolis Famelos & Bicyclists,
• “Ta Fota pou svinoun” (The Lights that go off)(1999) - The Lights that go off,
• “Alliotika Ftera” (Different Wings)(2000) - Nikos Ziogalas,
• “Ston P” (To P)(2000) - tribute to Pavlos Sidiropoulos
• “Festival tragoudiou Thessalonikis”(Thessaloniki Song Festival)(2005) – Various Artists
• “Hellas as Hell”(2008) – Nasos Matrakas
• “Mi se fovisi I Ageli”(Don’t be afraid of the herd)(2010) – Dimitris Lampos

In Petros Gaitanos’ album “Krifi Selida” (Secret Page)(2001), I played the guitars and did the vocals. In this record is the song I wrote “Pare me mazi sou” (Take me with you) (lyrics and music). The records’ title is also taken from my lyrics.

I did the orchestration and the production and I also played in George Dimitriadis’ album “Anoihta Magazia” (Open Stores)(2006). With the same artist, I co-operated as co-creator, orchestrator and producer in the Soundtrack of Yannis Xanthopoulos’ best seller movie “Pente Lepta Akoma” (5 More Minutes)(2006).

Additionally, I wrote the music of Yannis Xanthopoulos’ movie “Ola tha pane kala” (Everything is gonna be all right), which was released in cinemas in early 2009.

In spring, 2009, George Dimitriades’ CD “Savvato” (Saturday) was released, for which I did the orchestration and the production. I also gave the artist one of my songs “Den eimai Theos” (I am not God).

I continue to cooperate, as an orchestrator and producer, with many well-known artists.

Thessaloniki Song Festival 2005-2006

I participated in Thessaloniki Song Festival in 2005 as a musician and orchestrator in all contestants’ songs. I appeared live on TV during the two days of the festival.

I also participated in Thessaloniki Song Festival in 2006, as a contestant with the song “To Sosto einai Lathos” (Right is Wrong), which I composed, orchestrated and performed myself.
