Bio
I have a very eclectic taste in music, probably because I have traveled all my adult life. My professional working career has been mainly in overseas locations as a professional expatriate. Having lived in 11 different countries it is bound to rub off.
But my roots are very much in Scotland. I currently live in the Middle East and the mystical music that one hears here every day emphasizes just how much music variety there is in the world.
My style of songwriting is thematic; A recent theme has focused on the meaning of Home and Away. This probably comes from the fact that I am a constant state of home and away. Several of my songs reflect this theme. I have also studied the importance of expectations in life and how these are so fundamentally personal. What one expects from oneself may be totally at odds with what other expect.
I produces all my own material in my bedroom studio in Bahrain. I am helped a lot by the Garret Boys – a Scottish band that I play with in a virtual – skype based role. Andrew Wison, whose arrangement and production skills, I can only hope of one day emulating, is a great help in giving me guidance on production issues.
I prefer a good glass of wine to a good glass of beer.
In my spare time I am the managing director of a large industrial multinational in Saudi Arabia.
