Bio

I've been performing for over 30 years locally and nationally. Born and raised in the Detroit area, I have many influences, including: Hank Williams, Merle Travis, Bob Dylan, Tony Rice, The Beatles, and many more.

Throughout the 70's, 80's and 90's, I worked with many Detroit area rock, country, folk, and bluegrass bands. Also during that period, with my partner Mike Vigilant, collaborated on over 17 musical plays; 15 of which are currently in national publication through Samuel French (New York), Pioneer Drama Service (Boulder, CO), and Merriwether Publishing (Colorado Springs, Co).

I played lead guitar in Poor Boy Music (PBM), a pop-rock band led by my son, Nate. PBM toured extensively in the U.S. from 2004 - 2006, playing college campuses and clubs. In the fall of 2003, PBM was invited to perform at the " In The City" conference in Manchester, England. This visit followed the English release of "Last September" on Rawfish Records. PBM disbanded in the fall of 2007.

I currently spend time songwriting and performing with Ben Steel and his Bare Hands, a bluegrass/country/roots group, and The Balduck Mountain Ramblers, also a traditional acoustic band.

Most recently, Mike Vigilant and I wrote "Mama's Calling" for the play "Bear Country", currently enjoying great success at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival in Montgomery, AL. The play, written by Mike Vigilant, celebrates the life of lengendary Alabama football coach Paul "The Bear" Bryant.
