Bio

GERARD MASTERS

Music is Gerard Masters life. As a child, Gerard studied multiple instruments including piano, violin, guitar and vocal.
It was the piano that eventually captured his imagination, and it was Crowded House with their song “Fall at your Feet” that first sent shivers down his spine.
Gerard then immersed himself in the greats of music, channeling people like Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway and Ray Charles. These obsessions lead him to the Conservatorium of Music, where he acquired a Bachelor of Music.
Gerard’s ever growing skills enabled him to play with some of Australia’s renowned jazz artists, such as James Morrison, Emma Pask and DIG on a contemporary level, and many more, becoming a much sought-after performer at jazz festivals throughout the country.
Whilst on his journey, the aspect of Gerard writing his own music was continuing to evolve, so much so that he has now also been commissioned to write songs and score for an upcoming motion picture project.
Eventually, his music skills introduced him to more popular and contemporary opportunities, which saw him take on the role of Musical Director and touring musician for artists such as Missy Higgins, Pete Murray, Wes Carr, Lisa Mitchell, The McClymonts, and most recently, The Potbelleez with whom he has co-written music for their upcoming album.
In fact, it was his experience with Missy Higgins playing out front with her on a grand piano during a tour that inspired him to take his own leap of faith and become an artist in his own right.
Enter Gerard Masters and his band, who have been slowly but effectively establishing themselves as a live act at venues around the country.
