Biography

Awarded five professional songwriting grants through FACTOR to date(www.factor.ca).

2005 - Published four of my songs with Dream Seekers of Hendersonville, TN. "HANG ON TIGHT", "GOOD AT EVERYTHING", "FUNDAMENTAL PROBLEMS" and "WHERE YOU STOLE MY HEART".

I wrote my first song in 1974 and it was BAD...but we all have to start somewhere. I wrote mostly pop for a long time but in the early 90's, I started noticing on the charts that there were less self-contained acts in country and so to increase my chances of getting cuts I started writing just that. It opened my eyes on how much improving I needed to do on the lyric end of things...and hopefully I continue to improve. Songwriting is a blessing for me. It's gotten me through a lot of tough times...almost like it's a type of therapy. I think only other songwriters can understand how cool it is to start with an idea and mold the words and melody into a song...that will be yours forever. I immerse myself in my writing because it always makes me feel good. It's MY identity. I've had several cuts and that too is cool. My goal is to continue to improve as a writer, to continue to expand my circle of co-writer's and to continue this exciting journey until I get that elusive major cut. Thank you for reading a little about me and I hope you enjoy my songs. Germain

Lyrics

Daddy

Written By: Germain Brunet

TONIGHT AS I WAS WALKING BY MY LITTLE GIRL’S ROOM
I COULD HEAR HER TALKING SOFT AND LOW
I OPENED UP HER DOOR A TOUCH JUST ENOUGH TO SEE THROUGH
SHE WAS HOLDING ON TO HER FAVORITE DOLL
KNEELING DOWN BESIDE HER BED
WITH HER HANDS TOGETHER AND EYES SHUT TIGHT
SHE SAID

CHORUS
DADDY, DADDY - I MISS YOU SO EVERYDAY
I TRY NOT TO CRY BUT MOMMY SAYS IT’S OK
I WISH YOU WERE HERE TO READ ME A BEDTIME STORY LIKE YOU USE TO DO
AND DADDY WOULD IT BE OK WITH JESUS
IF YOU COME AND SEE US

I WALKED INTO HER ROOM HOLDING BACK MY TEARS
AND HUGGED HER SO TIGHT
AND SAID “SWEETY, I KNOW IT’S HARD, I MISS HIM TOO
BUT REMEMBER DADDY’S ALWAYS HERE RIGHT BY YOUR SIDE”
I TRIED TO HIDE THE SADNESS ON MY FACE
BUT IT WAS PLAIN FOR HER TO SEE
SHE SAID “MOMMY CLOSE YOUR EYES” AND THEN
SHE WHISPERED SOFTLY

CHORUS
DADDY, DADDY - I KNOW THAT I JUST SPOKE WITH YOU
BUT MOMMY’S SAD, IS THERE ANYTHING THAT YOU CAN DO
MOMMY SAYS GOD NEEDS YOU NOW BUT WHEN YOUR WORK UP THERE IS THROUGH
DADDY WOULD IT BE OK WITH JESUS
IF YOU COME AND SEE US

BRIDGE
I TUCKED HER INTO BED AND KISSED HER ON THE CHEEK
I SOFTLY STROKED HER HAIR TILL SHE WAS SOUND ASLEEP
AND I REALIZED SHE’S MY WORLD - MY STRENGHT - HEAVEN SENT
THE INNOCENCE THAT KEEPS ME SANE
HER WORDS ECHO IN MY BRAIN

CHORUS

That First Kiss

Written By: Germain Brunet

WE WERE SITTING ROUND THE KITCHEN TABLE
TALKING ABOUT OLD TIMES
WITH THE FAMILY THERE DADDY SHARED
A STORY ‘BOUT ONE VALENTINE
HE SAID THAT’S THE DAY I ALMOST DIDN’T ASK YOUR MOMMA OUT
BUT I’M SO GLAD I GOT THE NERVE, WHERE WOULD I BE WITHOUT

CHORUS
THAT FIRST KISS THAT LED TO THIS
30 YEARS OF MARRIED BLISS
TWO GIRLS, ONE BOY, A LIFE FILLED WITH JOY
TALK ABOUT A GIFT
A MILLION LAUGHS, TIMELESS PHOTOGRAPHS
OF YEARS WE SHARED, THEY SLIP SO FAST
THE HIGHS AND LOWS, THE MIRICLES
IT ALL STARTED WITH THAT FIRST KISS

HE RAISED HIS GLASS AND HE MADE A TOAST
AND SAID HERE’S TO MY PERFECT WIFE
AND A FAMILY SO WONDERFUL
I COULDN’T ASK FOR A BETTER LIFE
THEN HE TOOK OFF HIS GLASSES, HAD SOMETHING IN HIS EYES
THE MOMENT GOT THE BEST OF HIM, HE SAID “DO YOU REALIZE”

CHORUS

BRIDGE
WELL MY SON WAS LISTENING CLOSELY, SOAKING IN EVERY WORD
WHEN GRANDPA TURNED TO HIM AND SAID, SOMEDAY SON I’M SURE

CHORUS
YOU’LL HAVE THAT FIRST KISS, THAT’LL LEAD TO THIS
MANY YEARS OF MARRIED BLISS
I TELL YOU BOY, LIFE FILLED WITH JOY
IS A REAL TRUE GIFT
A MILLION LAUGHS, TIMELESS PHOTOGRAPHS
OF YEARS YOU’LL SHARE, THEY’LL SLIP SO FAST
THE HIGHS AND LOWS, THE MIRICLES
IT WILL ALL START WITH THAT FIRST KISS

Another Shot of You

Written By: Dave Woods and Germain Brunet

THOUGHT I COULD TASTE JUST A LITTLE BIT
PUT IT DOWN THEN WALK AWAY
NO SECOND LOOK, NO GETTING HOOKED
NO HABIT I WOULD HAVE TO BREAK

BUT YOUR KISS LINGERS ON MY LIPS
THIS SWEET ADDICTION I JUST CAN’T KICK

CHORUS
I NEED ANOTHER SHOT OF YOUR LOVE
I JUST CANNOT GET ENOUGH
ONE MORE ROUND C’MON KISS ME
THIS IS MUCH BETTER THAN WHISKEY
POUR YOURSELF INTO MY ARMS
INTOXICATE ME ALL NIGHT LONG
GIVE ME ALL THAT YOU’VE GOT
FILL MY HEART UP TO THE TOP
NOTHIN’ ELSE WILL DO
I NEED ANOTHER SHOT OF YOU

I CAN’T QUENCH THIS THIRST, I CAN’T SOBER UP
YOU’RE ALL I CRAVE, ALL I WANT
I’VE LOST CONTROL, CAN’T TELL YOU NO
MY BODY’S WEAK, TEMPTATION’S STRONG

EVERY TOUCH LEAVES ME FEELIN’ HIGH
I CAN’T QUIT YOU EVEN IF I TRIED

CHORUS

BRIDGE
I’M A THIRSTY MAN, BABY YOU KNOW I AM

CHORUS

Your Best Friend

Written By: German Brunet

Max was a military man, Jenny was a stay at home wife
And Savannah was their blue-eyed baby just starting school
Each day when he came home from work he greeted Jenny with a kiss
And placed Savannah on his shoulders and ran round the room

Then one night the call came in, six month duty overseas
And when he sat his little girl down
She cried Daddy, Daddy please don’t go away
He dried her tears and said “Baby it’s OK”

CHORUS
Where I’m going is not that far and till I see you again
Just remember I’m right here in your heart
I’ll always be your best friend

Savannah was the first one in line when her Daddy arrived on that plane
When she saw him she ran into his arms and hugged him so tight
They added to their family that year, Savannah loved her brother named Troy
She loved to hold him in her arms and rock him at night

As he grew up he followed his sister everywhere
They became inseparable, they made quite a pair
So when it came time to see her off to college he had tears in his eyes (and she said)

CHORUS

BRIDGE
Now the family gathered around
Jenny was slipping fast and Max was breaking down
Said God “don’t take her away from me”
She managed a smile and whispered softly

Never Been This Crazy

Written By: Dave Woods and Germain Brunet

I’VE ALWAYS BEEN SOMEONE WHO’S LOW KEY
LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP, THAT’S ME
I LIKE THE FEELING OF ALWAYS BEING IN CONTROL

BUT FROM THE FIRST TIME YOU CAME AROUND
LIKE A PRIZE FIGHTER YOU KNOCKED ME DOWN
GOODBYE LOGIC, HELLO LOVE
WAVE GOODBYE TO WHO I WAS
I’M SOMEONE NEW, SWEAR TO YOU RIGHT NOW

CHORUS
I’VE NEVER BEEN THIS CRAZY, CRAVING EVERY KISS
IN A TOTAL FRENZIE WHEN WE’RE CLOSE LIKE THIS
MY THOUGHTS BECOME IRRATIC, MY HEART JUMPS FOR JOY
WHAT’CHA DOING TO ME
I’VE NEVER BEEN THIS CRAZY

LET’S HOP INTO YOUR CAR AND HEAD TO THE COAST
WE’LL RENT A LITTLE CABIN, C’MON BABY LET’S GO
WE’LL RUN BAREFOOT ON SOME BEACH
FEEL THE SOFT KISS OF THE OCEAN BREEZE

I WANNA DANCE WITH YOU IN THE POURING RAIN
I WANNA DRINK YOU IN TILL I FEEL NO PAIN
LET’S RUN THROUGH A FIELD OF TALL GRASS
I’LL LET YOU CATCH ME OH YA
LOVE IS RIGHT IF IT MAKES YOU INSANE (and)

CHORUS

BRIDGE
YOU’VE GOT ME THINKING RINGS
BELLS AND VOWS AND A LONG WHITE GOWN
YA COULD MAKE THOSE PLANS OR WE COULD ELOPE RIGHT NOW (cause)

Discography

As a songwriter, I got my first song recorded in 1991 and also signed my first publishing contract that same year. I, like most all other unknown songwriters...I would guess, am looking for my first major cut. It's a long uphill road but that alright because It means I'm getting closer to the top day by day.
