Starting my musical life as a toddler banging on saucepan lids on the kitchen floor, later studying jazz, I became a drummer for hire playing in a number of bands across many styles including jazz, blues, Indie rock and country.

One of the great things about being a live musician was travelling around all parts of Australia meeting different people that I would not have come across working in any other industry. These experiences would later be invaluable for songwriting.

Though I was playing other people’s music I enjoyed the challenge of sharing in arranging and finding a central place for drums in the mix. Working with songwriters, I learnt different approaches and techniques which would provide me with a strong basis to become a songwriter.

About 4 years ago I was first drawn to electronic dance music to express my passion for grooves, to gain confidence in composing and to develop my own ideas through songwriting. This led me to working on a CD that will be released next year.

I have started to use my voice as a way of telling my stories and expressing my feelings that are very much connected to being an Australian living in the inner city as well as the experiences of touring with country bands to rural areas.

For me electronic music is very much about incorporating all musical styles and personal experiences. Electronic music is not just dance music or haircut electronic retro bands. It can also be story telling and emotion.

This song 'Vanity' is about the concept of addiction to a variety of things in life, the good, the bad and the ugly. The vocal is in the second person and the song structure is very much a conversation towards a more positive space.
