Gerry Eastman Quintet

Gerry Eastman Quintet

I compose, and produce everything from avant-garde to Delta blues for my band, the Gerry Eastman Quintet. I have self-produced and released five CDs, the most recent of which is being played on jazz stations across the country.

My love for jazz began early and has never wavered. Initially self taught, I formalized my training at Ithaca College and, later, Cornell University, where I studied music theory, composition, and performance. I went on to work as an arranger with Motown Records, performed on tour with the Kool Jazz, Montreaux, and JVC Jazz Festivals, and with the Count Basie Orchestra, where I replaced the legendary Freddie Green. I have also worked with Frank Foster, Thad Jones, Stanley Turrentine, Etta Jones, Houston Pearson, Sarah Vaughn, and Nancy Wilson.
