Gerry Gareau

BandBluesAcoustic

Acoustic, bluesy folksy, rocking songs from the soul...

Biography

From a soft acoustic vocal to a fine tuned high or low note to a raspy tone, Gerry offers fine tuned versatile singing, folksy bluesy rocking guitar playing and spot on topical lyrics(in a poetic kind of way). Having toured across Canada and even as far as South Africa, Gerry can swing from his acoustic version of Prince’s When doves cry, to one of his own acoustic, bluesy folksy, rocking songs and make it work. Gerry's band is second to none featuring the solid rhythm section of Emmanuelle Caplette and Jf Dery both known to play with multi platinum artists across Quebec.
A cross between Jack Johnson, Steve Miller and The Guess who.
Available as acoustic solo, duo, trio or an electric 4 piece band.

Lyrics

Like the cactus

Written By: Gerry Gareau

Like the cactus

Black gold
Texas T
Since we’re easily sold
We’re no longer free
Tar sands
Filtered free
Dirty hands
Grab the profits they need

Like the cactus
That sucks the last drop
Profits do flow to us
Touch the cactus
Touch the cactus
The cactus needs you to bleed

Last bit of water
Come drink the juice
As you falter
It looks like fruit
Bloody hands
Lost in the needles
Laying in the land
As you crawl
To your steeples
The mirage calls
You’ve lost humility
You need humidity

Squeeze the cactus
It needs you to bleed
The cactus needs you to bleed
Touch the cactus
Touch the cactus
The cactus needs you to bleed

Touch the cactus
Touch the cactus
The cactus needs you to bleed
Touch the cactus
Touch the cactus
The cactus needs you to bleed

The rain drips in your home

Written By: Gerry Gareau

Your woman left home
You’re all alone
She left the door wide open
To keep you hoping
She’d be coming back
From that other man’s sack

You tried to work it out
That’s what loves about
But when she came back knocking
You left her back in
Should have left her on the porch
And blown out the torch

Cos your world is upside down
And the sun’s not coming around
Grab the rain with both of your hands
Wash your face as best as you can

The clouds are all around
The rain drips in your home
Tuck, tuck, tuck.....

You left the radio on
To hear Paul Simons song
50 ways to leave your lover
You could run for cover
Hop on the bus
And don’t discuss much

Cos your world is upside down
And the sun’s not coming around
Grab the rain with both of your hands
Wash your face as best as you can

The clouds are all around
The rain drips in your home
Tuck, tuck, tuck......

The clouds are all around
The rain drips in your home
But just for now

The clouds are all around
The rain drips in your home
But just for now

Once again (peace flies off)

Written By: Gerry Gareau

Leaves are green
Leaves in the wind
Leaves loose sheen
Then trees become bare
As peace has fallen again
I hope to see the green leaves again

Rabbits are caged
Rabbits populate
Their survival is wagered
As they illiminate
Their young when there's too many of them
Till they feel they have enough space again
Once again, Once again...

I have once touched a wing
Of a bird in mid flight over me
Now as my eyes disbelieve
Peace flies off in the wind
Once again
In the wind once again

Seeds are planted
Seeds do grow
Life is granted to all things we know
With colours that are wild and irrisistable
Till we find we don't have enough space again
Once again, once again

I have once touched a wing
Of a bird in mid flight over me
Now as my eyes disbelieve
Peace flies off in the wind
Once again
In the wind once again

Leaves are red
Leaves in the wind
Leaves turn brown
And then crumble down
As peace has fallen again
I hope to see the green leaves again

Melt

Written By: Gerry Gareau

Melt

I'm melting from your eyes
Molten lava, to a fantasy
As passion steeps into me
You keep mystifying me
But I still ignite the dream
When you're far from my reality

It's making me melt, making me melt

It's an erupting volcano
Loosening my hardened soul
Continuing to spread
Like a field smouldering
You keep snuffing out your flames
When mine keep resurfacing

It's making me melt, making me melt

I'm holding a vigil
In my room
Burning candles for you
Like a fool
From the heat you're causing:
Save me soon
Shorten the distance

That's making me melt
Making me melt
It's the distance
That's making me melt

I'm holding a vigil
In my room
Burning candles for you
Like a fool
From the heat you're causing:
Save me soon
Shorten the distance

That's making me melt
Making me melt
It's the distance
That's making me melt

Making me melt
Molten lava
Making me melt
Making me melt
