Hailing from a well known Dundalk music family the modest Gerry Maguire has been writing, recording and performing his own songs and music since his teens. Over the years his work has found its way into plays, documentaries, short films and radio stations from Beijing to Boston. His songs are in the collection of presidents and repertoire of American blue grass singers.
Gerry has worked and recorded his songs & music with some of the finest musicians in various genres over the years - from Traditional Music (Arty McGlynn, Nollaig Casey) to Jazz (Ritchie Buckley, Rod McVey, Robyn Robbins, Nick Scott) from Pop & MOR (Patrick Dunne, Liam Bradley, James Blennerhasset) right up to Hip Hop and R&B (Ken McHugh, Stella) .In 2006 the prolific Gerry was among the Irish at the Cannes Music Festival & had a classic version of his song ‘Crazy Love’ on the Irish Music Industry CD which also included tracks from the likes of Rodrigo Y Gabriela, Turn, and Leya to name a few.
There’s lots more about this man whose stop/start career has spanned three decades but as Gerry says himself “My music and songs are what I’m about: when someone gives me their time to listen to my songs and finds something of value there – what more is to be said?”
