On July 14, 1990 an incredible force was born and was given the name Justin Anthony Watkins. Justin was born in Chicago, Illinois to the parents of Raymond and Denise Watkins. His father Raymond Watkins was an aspiring piano player in his younger days and his mother Denise Watkins was responsible for exposing him to a wide variety of musical expressions that would soon be the reason why he is now acknowledged under the alias Energy. Energy is now an American rapper, singer, producer and writer and best known for his mastered nonchalant demeanor and acute thoughts that his generation ignores. Energy is also held as 1 in a Million.
Energy grew up like the regular urban survivor. What was different conversely was the means by which he carried himself. At an early age Justin was, extremely mature in a laid back nonchalant way that I wasnt used to seeing amongst babies his age, says Mrs. Watkins.
Sports were what Energy first loved. He involved himself in the three most popular sports: Baseball, Basketball and Football. With baseball being his favorite of the three, over time these athlete dreams began to weaken and his passion for music began to increase. Energys undeniable talent was influenced by his family due to the diverse artistic expressions supplied at
an early age which caused the flame to spark. So he began to focus on Hip-Hop and Rap. Growing tiresome of compositions composed by artist of his generation he began to write songs for his friends at the age of thirteen. Never straying away from the religious teachings from his family, he continued to master his craft and form a group known as Paper Chasers and another group called L.I.V.E. (Listening and Interpreting Vision of Elevation).
Things started to change in 2008 when Energy was introduced to Pierre Martel by Ikon and Yaco. With Pierre Martel in the beginning of formulating his label Toxicated Entertainment,
he saw something in Energy he never dreamed which lead to his Pop and R&B. In early 2009,
Energy was signed to T.O.X. and they began to construct his freshman album Welcome To Energyville with the first single Fall Back . Now with the single in heavy demand in the streets, radio, clubs, houses and lounges, who knows how high this young phenom will soar. Best believe Energy has much more in store!
