Biography of Ghetto Flow

“Dominican Ghetto Flow exports Urban/Latin. La Baby out-raps all the men on stage.” Ruud van der Locht (Antilliaanse Feesten 2008)

Four Dominicans, three men and one woman, arrived in the Netherlands as teenagers in search of worldwide success. Ghetto Flow is Urban/Latin and dancehall. Spirited and melodious. In their own style: Ghetto Flow-style. See, enjoy, listen and join the dance!
Ghetto Flow has quickly made a name for themselves in Europe as one of the best Urban/Latin acts on the continent. All four of them were born in the Dominican Republic, and have been living in the Netherlands since 2000. They were making Urban and Latin music long before these Caribbean styles became popular in Europe. A good many latin music lovers in the U.S. and Latin America are already fans of the group.
Rapper MB (rapper and producer of Ghetto Flow) was already devoted to making music in his native country, performing frequently with his band Los Terricolas in 1998. In 2000, MB decided to move to the Netherlands in order to further his music career. There he met J.Soprano, and together they started the group Light Clan. While shooting a game of pool in a Rotterdam café, they met La Baby, the lone lady in the quartet. La Baby, who got her name because of her baby face, had been a true fan of reggaetón since she was a child. Upon meeting the men of Light Clan, their shared passion for music was quickly recognized.
Conejo, the youngest of the group, had been writing and rapping since he was eleven years old, in three different languages. He was a member of the group La Ciencia on the island of Sint Maarten, but he left them behind for a future in the Netherlands. He?d heard from his brother that Light Clan was looking for a fourth member, and after meeting MB, J.Soprano and La Baby, Conejo joined the group. Ghetto Flow was born!
Mixing various musical styles such as dancehall, hip-hop, salsa and merengue with bachata, Ghetto Flow creates a unique sound that sets them apart from other Urban/Latin artists. Consequently, the group welcomed the collaboration of various artists for the recording of their debut album “Los Reales - Edicion Oculta”.
Since 2005, Ghetto Flow?s career has shifted into high gear. They performed at Parkpop, Noorderslag, Midem, the Antillean festivals in Hoogstraten and Amsterdam Roots festival. They?ve opened for such big names as Marc Anthony, Don Omar, Tego Calderón, Victor Manuelle ,Wisin y yandel,Aventura, Pitbull, Kelis, T.O.K,Gilberto Santa Rosa and La India gotten airplay on FunX in 2007 with their catchy single “Una Gota De Lluvia”. Later in 2007, they were selected to be the Dutch representatives at world-renowned music convention Midem. Their participation there was very successful, creating even more opportunities for the band. In December of that same year, Ghetto Flow reached the finals of the national Grolsch Grote Prijs (a major national music prize) in the category Hip-Hop and R&B.
2008 was to be a year of inspiration for the band, driving them to record and release their first official album, “Los Realos - Edicion Oculta”. The CD will be available in stores as of July 24th, 2009, but the first official single, “Yo Te Quiero Hacer” will be released a full month earlier, on June 26th, 2009. in 2010 and 2011 tours in Europe and Latin America and the 2011 for the first time they won 4 awards Latinos in the city of Cologne in Germany a great achievement and recognition for his career.
