"Deep Six"

"Deep Six, the new album [by] Ghost Heron, bristles with a bluesy Americana feel. Slipping into that barroom, piano twinkling, harp-blowing zone, or pushing the tempo with harmony-powered, up-tempo folk, the band gathers steam from a myriad of road tested sonic stylings. However, those time-stamped moments, whether it's the grit of funky blues-rock or the sway of earnest barrelhouse, hold a fresh breath.

"Tops Hats off to Ghost Heron"

“When the front man slung an orange guitar [Gretch] over his Native American bone shirt plus tuxedo jacket and the drummer striped the house kit down to only a kick, high-hat and snare, I was a bit concerned. To be honest, I was just hoping these guys would not suck and drive the crowd away. Usually I give artists 15 minutes to perform but the crowd loved their blend of blues-rock and country so I kept them on and they did not disappoint. In fact, Heron tore it up on guitar with some chicken pickin’ goodness while the female vocalist [The Sonic Abbess] doubled on acoustic guitar and auto-harp. Her vocals were smooth; a nice contrast to Heron’s gravel, but what took the cake for me was the Middle Eastern tune [Before the Storm] where she added some bizarrely fitting overtones with her harp. It was super cool and I can honestly say I’ve never had a band bring an auto-harp into this room but they did and it awesome! Hats off, or should I say top hats off, to Ghost Heron - great” - Jason Jefferies, Host, Bob & Barbara's Bar and Lounge (Nov 03, 2016)

"Rich, Rootsy-Sound"

“I listened to some of your music and it's excellent; you have a rich, rootsy sound that's at once evocative and hook-filled.” - Karla Keffer, Twin Vision - Karla Keffer, Twin Vision

"Blue Corn Festival Bands"

“I had a few headliners in mind for the Blue Corn Lifestyle Festival and one of these bands was Ghost Heron. I knew their unique Americana blend of Country and Blues would be exactly what the outdoor festival needed to balance out the rest of the acts. Even when the late afternoon temperatures hovered above 100 degrees these guys, and one lady [The Sonic Abbess], did not disappoint. People were dancing and smiling away as they played a folkie country tune [Hooked on Phonix Fool] and then kept bopping along with their blues tunes [Been Walkin’ these Streets & In the Belly of the Beast]. Heron really wowed the crowd with his harmonica and slide guitar playing while [The Sonic Abbess] played a mean rhythm guitar and sang like a siren. Towards the end of the set, I could see everyone needed to cool down but the sounds of Ghost Heron were a raft and her voice seemed to carry them on a course through the heat waves and further into the night.” - Pedro Soto, Talent Buyer and Founder of Blue Corn Lifestyle Festival, Blue Corn Lifestyle Festival (Aug 15, 2016)

"West Philly House Show"

“The lovely sounds of Ghost Heron filled my living room this past July during an entertaining and inviting house show. The band was a welcoming presence that provided a fun and comfortable atmosphere in my cozy living room. Audience members clapped along to catchy tunes and were awed by these skilled musicians. Everyone felt a part of the show and I can't wait to have them back!” - Nicole, West Philly House Show Host (Aug 05, 2016)

Bio

Ghost Heron is an original Rock n’ Roll – Americana Band from Philadelphia drawing influences from found legends and raw humanity. Ghost Heron’s first album, Deep Six, take listeners on a sonic Americana journey through the book of Jonah. “Been Walking these Streets,” is a blues tune set in the famed city of Nineveh that features racked harmonica and some mean Memphis piano. The tune “Hooked on Phonix Fool” is an Alt-Country shuffle showcasing the dual lead harmonies of the Sonic Abbess and Heron. The singer-songwriter ballad “Through the Darkness” explores the theme of blind sight with gut stringed guitars, beatlesque drums and gospel B3 organ.

Ghost Heron is currently performing in and around the City of Brotherly Love with the digital release of Deep Six and soon to be followed up with an vinyl expanded addition in March of 2017 where they take their Rock n Roll - Americana sound on tour in Europe and others parts unknown.
