"Q & A: Marc Z. Gold"

When Soundz of the Youth throws its final all-ages show Friday (June 22) at the Kapisanan Philippine Centre (167 Augusta, doors 6 pm, $10), Toronto’s young music lovers and musicians will once again find themselves with few live music options. For a year now, the monthly all-ages music series has provided a place for underage indie rock, funk, jazz-fusion and punk bands to perform, with each show carefully curated by young local promoter Marc Z. Gold to ensure a stylistic fit.

The finale features Lesbian Bondage Fiasco, Ghost Daze, Shipley Hollow, Look Out Below and I’ll Tell You When you’re Older. NOW spoke to Gold about the current state of Toronto’s all-ages scene ahead of his departure for the Israel Defense Forces. - NOW Magazine

Bio

Ghost Daze are a powerhouse 3 piece combo hailing from Toronto's east side. Hooking up in elementary school at the age of ten, they have played together exclusively for the past 7 years. A 90's Grunge influence has matured into an interesting marriage of 70's garage rock, 90's power punk and catchy melodies over a blanket of fuzz. Their sound is reminiscent of early Weezer, Nirvana, Ty Segall and JEFF the Brotherhood, best appreciated loud and live! Currently supporting their recent 6 song EP "Cartoons", this Toronto band will make its mark on a musical landscape aching to be mined by local talent. If you don’t like loud in your face fuzzy garage rock, well too bad, cause this is Ghost Daze.
