Ghost Lion: Indie Band With Great Headwear
Ghost Lion, the relatively small and therefore “hip” Indie Rock band has been busy lately. While they recently have been favoring R Bar for their shows, they are set to play at Alphabet Lounge tonight in the village. If you have yet to hear them, check out their MySpace page to decide for yourself if it’s worth the visit downtown. If their live music is anything like their headwear choices (see above), I’m already a big fan. (And I’m guessing the lovely Arden Wohl is as well?)

Tropical post-punk. That's what South Florida native, Blake Hanley, calls his music---a dark mix of calypso beats, nylon acoustic guitars and a Clash-like attack, well suited for a late night, sweat-drenched beach party.
And telling from the band's live show and 2011 EP, Junk Food For Thoughts, Ghost Lion's debut LP, scheduled for release in early 2012, should be no different.
"A lot of the sound comes from that desire to escape to an island, away from the city, chaos, problems, whatever. But there's something holding you back, knowing that you couldn't be truly free if you ran---a voice tellin' you, 'The solutions are in the chaos, not in the sun.'"
