"Album Review: Ghostly Times – When All That’s Left Is Grey (Self Released)"

With the first opening melodic tones of Ghostly Times, post-rock fans will instantly feel at home. Soft, sorrowful vocals with a nice hard-rocking vibe all with a bit of the Deftones about it.

Ghostly Times know their melody, songs like Sleepless State & Murder of Crows having a really powerful impact vocally all backed up by some stellar guitar riffing & catchy as hell hooks. The latter of two is the best song on the album thanks to the simply stunning guitar solo near the end. The talent on show is gob-smacking.

The band are more than happy to increase the pace too such as on the punchy & foot-tapping beat of Book of Love & Rainstorm. The latter of the two’s throbbing bass beat really getting the blood pumping.

So much of this 8 track album is built around uplifting & soaring vocals built around an exciting post-rock sound. Take Trace Your Steps for example, an absolutely incredible song that will lift you out of any dark mood your currently in leaving the biggest smile across your face. It makes you want to turn to the next person & just give them the biggest hug.

The final two songs continue the great work with the fist pumping Sit Back, Relapse and Go bringing back the slight Deftones vibe before Grey gets the emotions going with its sorrowful melody. A simply sublime ending to an album that words can barely describe just how fantastic it is. The definition of beautiful music.

Wow. - Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

"ALBUM REVIEW: GHOSTLY TIMES – WHEN ALL THAT’S LEFT IS GREY"

We’ve had a lot of beautifully atmospheric rock music released this year. From Manchester Orchestra’s fifth album, to Bellevue Days’ third EP, people have been perfecting the art of creating an atmosphere through their music all around the rock world. One more band that aims to do this are Brooklyn-based Ghostly Times, who have created a fantastic sound on their debut full-length album.

The first two tracks typify this sound fantastically. ‘Ghostly Times’ and ‘Sleepless State’ create a great atmosphere that sets the tone for the rest of the album. The lead singer’s great voice is perfectly complimented by a plethora of guitar sounds, ranging from melodic swirls to low rhythmic accompaniment. This, alongside the fantastic drumming all comes together to make an atmosphere that is both beautiful and melancholy at the same time. Not all of the songs are the same though. ‘Book of Love’ takes much more of a typical rock format to great effect, and ‘Sit Back, Relapse and Go’ is a 6-minute-long odyssey. Not to mention the incredible ‘Murder of Crows’ – my favourite song on the album.

I have never been one for longer songs, and this album has quite a few of them. Having said that, the band has managed to make them in a way that has kept me engaged throughout the album. Everything on this album just feels right, from the start to the end, and I can’t wait to see what’s next for this band. - The Alternative Review

""When All That's Left Is Grey" Album Review"

Ghostly Times are a Rock band from Brooklyn who recently released this eight track effort drawing influences from acts such as Thrice and Circa Survive. Let's dive in and see what they're all about. "Ghostly Times" opens up the album with a slight tinge of Death Cab For Cutie sound combined with the high energy of Thrice. The monumental Rock sound is something to behold as it really pouts the listener through a roller coaster of Rock emotion. "Sleepless State" has an Indie Rock vibe that brings to mind Castle Pines in its Indie Rock melody. It's a top notch track and should be on the radio right now. The guitar solo on the track is surreal. "Book Of Love" picks up the pace and releases a sonic assault on the senses. The vibe glides along with a drive and determination that helps make it a stand out track. The Rock tendencies are off the charts on the track. "Murder Of Crows" takes things down a few notches but still manages to pull off a track that oozes confidence. The track eventually goes off the rails and makes its mark on the album with some incredible guitar riffs and soaring vocals. "Rainstorm" right away unleashes a fury of Indie Rock, Rock, and even a touch of Post Hardcore. It really encapsulates what the band brings to the table with their eclectic sound. "Trace Your Steps" is an amazing track that'll get crowds moving and singing along right away. You need to listen to this track right now, it's that damn good! "Sit Back, Relapse" and Go" blows your mind right off the bat with a tremendous guitar riff before transitioning into a wall of Rock sound that would make modern Rock bands envious in their tenacity. The track is surely to be a fan favorite in no time as it has a ton of depth and catchiness. "Grey" closes out the album with a sound that'll linger with the listener. The track has a wave of emotions that is rarely felt and heard in music nowadays. The album itself is phenomenal and should be in every Rock music fans collection.

Verdict:
Ghostly Times have a candidate for Rock album of the year with their newest release. - From The Depths Entertainment

Bio

Ghostly Times is a rock quartet based out of Brooklyn, NY. The name was derived from the idea that we are living in the results of the past. We are the product of the thoughts and decisions of our ancestors and will forever perpetuate that cycle; good, bad or indifferent. Drawing influences from the likes of Thrice, Coheed & Cambria and Circa Survive, the group boasts dynamic guitar driven arrangements, while lead singer/guitarist Anthony Farina belts out heartfelt critiques of contemporary times and the fragility of life. With an explosive rhythm section and an energetic live performance, they leave it all out on the table at their shows. Receiving praise from their debut full-length, When All That's Left Is Grey, Ghostly is taking an independent approach to marketing. Reaching out to as many people as possible as often as possible by any means necessary. After performing a near sold out record release show in New York, they are looking to take the material on the road and to share their passion and intensity with audiences across the US and beyond.
