Ghost Towns of the West EP (2011, Chase Bliss Records)
Robust / Mr. Loewe 7" (2011, Chase Bliss Records)

It was the Summer of 2008, and Dan Crowe, a grizzled veteran of the Twin-Cities music scene since the tender age of 12, rode in the passenger’s seat of Joel Korte’s car and asked, “Why aren’t we in a band together?” The pair were listening to some of Korte’s demos as they returned from an annual weekend jam session in the nether regions of northern Minnesota. Bassist Andy Dwyer had been up there too, and a few weeks later (thanks to Dan’s coaxing) the trio formed the beginnings of a proper band, Ghost Towns of the West. They added multi-instrumentalist Ryan Jansen (Korte's long time friend and college football teammate) and enlisted their old high-school pal Ryan Harding on drums. Harding had returned from Minneapolis after a two year stint in Chicago where he toured with Local H and The Prairie Cartel.

In 2011, the band released a six song EP as well as a 7-inch vinyl single. All of the songs were recorded and produced by local Minneapolis legend Ed Ackerson (Polara, The Replacements, Golden Smog) at Flowers studio. The band is known for using a wide variety of gear during recording sessions, due in part to Korte's electronic design work at ZVEX Effects, a highly regarded guitar pedal company based out of Minneapolis.
