"New Band Debuts With Proverbial Bang"

It isn't often that a band materializes out of the blue with the rock chops and vocal dynamite of Covington KY 's Ghost Trees. Hearing them live is a treat for the uninitiated and a gleeful reunion for their growing throng of followers. While some of the band's members have been gigging around the Cincy/Northern Ky music scene for years, it's the two relative newcomers, Rubin Church and Amanda Pott, who set the band ablaze.

Did I mention that Lead singer Amanda Pott can SING? Snarling like caged heat, or glistening like honeydew, she hovers above the balled and burlapped madness of Rubin Church's fuzzed out guitars, with the willful urgency of an indie Janis Joplin. Props to Roger Pott (bass) and Dan Kleingers (drums) for effectively anchoring the swirling vocal/guitar maelstrom while plumbing the depths of Mordor with a muscular grace that defies their advancing years.

By turns, soulful, grungy and downright explosive, the Ghost Trees manage to crash the party with a thundering, melodic thud. I don't know where, when or how, but you will be hearing more from these folks.

Bio

Starting out as the creative outlet of husband and wife Roger (Bass) and Amanda Pott (Vocals,Keys), their brainchild became a band with the addition of Dan Kleingers (Drums) and Rubin Church (Guitar,Vocals). While this is Amanda's first foray into live original music, her powerful voice alludes to years of professional singing experience. The trio of musicians behind her have plenty of experience however. Roger, Dan, and Rubin have been part of the Cincinnati/NKY music scene for quite some time and have been in bands such as The Ass Ponys, The Spectacular Fantastic, Norust, and Hippocampus Groove. The Ghost Trees original music borrows aspects from several decades of American Rock and Roll, yet presents itself as a fresh new sound that will surely be a major part of the current original music scene in Cincinnati. Their live show is filled with a soulful presentation of their recorded music but still leaves room for a lot of improvisation. Their multi-stylistic approach will surely appeal to almost anyone in the crowd and their professional approach will leave many people thinking that they have been together for quite some time. Ghost Trees is one of the newest bands in the Cincinnati scene, but are soon to be one of the most talked about.
