"Live review"

Kinda like watching 5 seasons of "Breaking Bad"; condensed into 45 minutes of musical theatre. - Spoz's Rant

"Live review"

Like Damon Albarn gone batshit in the Adelaide burbs. The loonier it gets, the better it sounds. - Spoz's Rant

"'Life Is Cheap' review"

From the very opening chords, there’s a pub rock styling established that hasn’t been done all that well in previous years, but is captured incredibly proficiently with Ghyti. [...] as Ghyti switch from catchy rock ’To Gideon, All the Best, God’ and ‘Journal of the King’, to sincere ballads like ‘Sad Sack’. And the whole time, that Aussie demeanour is never dropped, which shows that Ghyti are the real fucking deal. - SoundlySounds

"Band review"

Ghyti's recent work makes you feel like you're sitting alongside Jason Bourne while he drives with a furrowed brow and sense of purpose through the narrow streets of a nondescript European city. - Five Thousand

"'Journal of the King' review"

...this is pretty sturdy and enjoyable power pop stuff. There's a nice basement rattle to it that sits well with the overall charm of the tune.

Dave Ruby Howe, triple j - Triple J

"Fluorescent Lights EP Review"

Ghyti’s new EP, “Fluorescent Lights”, is a lot darker then the band’s previous releases [...] It’s captivating….and it’s moving at the same time. - MusicSA

"Ghyti live at the Gov - Custard support"

Sounding crisp from the outset, [Ghyti's] Britpop-influenced set benefited from a good mix and it would be a pleasure to see them grace such stages more often... sharply-dressed frontman Matt Hill preferring to let the music do the talking for the most part. His bass along with the crunching drums formed a formidable rhythm section for the guitarists to weave their web over. - Scenestr

Bio

Ghyti is a four piece avant-rock band from Adelaide who have become live favourites for their post-punk and Britpop inspired sound. Reflecting diverse influences from Blur to Pavement and Arctic Monkeys, Ghyti's high energy songs are often described as 'quirky'. The lyrics are about common experiences and feelings, the guitar riffs and driving rhythms are made to dance to, and this combination makes the band a stand-out in the Adelaide scene.

Ghyti began as a solo project, releasing two EPs in 2010 and 2011, but quickly grew into a full lineup, releasing their first band EP 'Life Is Cheap' in 2013, followed by 'Fluorescent Lights' in October 2014. They have played extensively in Adelaide and Melbourne, showcased internationally at Canadian Music Week 2015 in Toronto, and were invited to play at the Culture Collide festival in Los Angeles. Ghyti supported Custard at The Gov in 2016, as part of the Brisbane band’s national album tour. Continuing to feature regularly on local and national radio, along with online music press, Ghyti has also appeared on international radio and TV in New York, Miami, Toronto, and London.

The band self-produced a 20-minute short film to promote the 'Fluorescent Lights' EP, and in September 2015 released the single 'Give Us Your Money', followed by their latest full EP ‘Commodities’ in April 2016. Ghyti have begun work on a follow up single and are preparing to tour through 2016.
