Bio

Giancarlo is a professional musician/songwriter of several years, and a current student of the reputable Berklee College of Music. His music contains many of his influences, including U2, Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, and Sting. Giancarlo Feltrin is not only a songwriter but an accomplished pianist, producer, arranger, and engineer. He has won several Battle of the Bands competitions, and has had numerous radio air time of his original music over the past few years on 105.1FM The River, a Canadian radio station based in the Niagara Region. Giancarlo’s music can be heard on www.myspace.com/giancarlofeltrin, and his debut album, Love is Letting Go, can be found at www.cdbaby.com today.

A Niagara Falls native, Giancarlo began playing piano at the age of five. He trained classically with the Royal Conservatory of Music, studying the fundamentals of musical theory and composition. He also developed singing in the theater in various musical theater groups. In high school he became the piano player for the St. Paul Choir and the bi-annual St. Paul Musical Showcases. While performing in bar bands throughout the Niagara Region, Giancarlo became serious as a singer/songwriter, focusing on popular and commercial music. In 2004 he became the piano player for the White Oaks Resort in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

After winning a Battle of the Bands competition in 2005, he met recording engineer Dean Malton, who produced and recorded his first single, "Love is Letting Go". Performing at various charities and festivals, such as the Welland Jazz Festival and the McBain Community Center Grand Opening, Giancarlo experimented with different forms of music, including jazz and folk, and infused it into his writing. In the spring of 2006 Giancarlo worked with Malton again to record his first solo album. He also asked musician/producer Mark Llama to produce one of his tracks, "We All Look The Same". While releasing the album he worked with the Firehall Theater as Musical Co-ordinator for the summer production. Accepted to Berklee College of Music in Boston, he studies Music Production and Engineering, and now produces his own original songs as well as other bands/songwriters, such as New York based blues artist Adam Bloom. Recently, he organized a charity fundraiser. All proceeds from online sales of his album went towards the Greater Niagara General Hospital Foundation. Currently, Feltrin studies at Berklee and continues to promote himself, writing new songs for an LP he calls "The Boston Sessions."
