"Gibbran&Tamsynn-Lee (Artist Spotlight Feature + Interview)"

This is straight LOVE-MAKING music! :) [Makes me wish I had it on vinyl.] Check out their Sonicbids profile here, and the video teaser for the new single “Aka. the Brightest”.

Gibbran Khan Rashid, a revolutionary soul man, and Tamsynn-Lee Isaacs, an expressive sense kind of woman, have been brought together by love and energy to form Gibbran&Tamsynn-Lee.
With the rhythm of love-making and cosmic frequency, this duo produces sweet music that they call “Steam.” Early 2009, these two artists converged, conceiving brilliant emotional, sensual and glorious songwriting. Gibbran&Tamsynn-Lee create the sounds of love. Music that elevates the heart, the spirit and the soul. No doubt their chemistry is contagious.
Their debut single “aka. The Brightest,” originally titled “Shine,” is a celebration of love, life and beauty. This epic soundscape features Mr. John T Davis, a Virginia jazz cat, on the B3 organ. Recorded, engineered and co-produced by Jeff D. Elliott at The Audio Recording Academy in Toronto, Ontario and mastered at Joao Carvalho Mastering house by Joao himself.

Gibbran, born in Guyana, continues to create his own music. Revolutionary Soul is what he calls it. This genre takes a controversial and revolutionary approach to songwriting. With titles like “Fight,” “Anchor” and “Save my soul”, Gibbran demonstrates songwriting from the source with his soul at the core. Gibbran currently has a DVD entitled “Live @ Harlem.” An hour long concert at Harlem Restaurant in Toronto, with 12 original songs, plus bonus footage.

Tamsynn-Lee hails from Cape Town, South Africa. Upon meeting each other, Gibbran helped elevate her already budding career by encouraging her to write more of her own material. Tamsynn-Lee was heavily involved in the HipHop scene at the time, whilst also advancing her acting career, but nevertheless took to Gibbran’s kind gesture. She quickly picked up the guitar and started composing her own songs. Creating, what she calls, Expressive Sense music. With titles like “Strumdela”, “Heart Song” and “Iron Lungs,” Tamsynn-Lee’s music is fuelled with feeling and a message delivered by a voice that is truly blessed. Tamsynn-Lee is the definition of a natural born singer, her voice is a gift to humanity. Her latest project “Vixen” is a HipHop/R&B based mixtape, with some special features, showing off her vocal and lyrical range.

Now, with their recent return from a successful tour in China, Gibbran&Tamsynn-Lee are diving into their first full length album together entitled “Steam.” This project has a Soul/Psychedelic//Pop vibe with a sound that is unique only to this duo. The project includes tracks like “Naked,” “In the Beat of the Light” and “Natural Remedy.” All songs exude a positive message with a positive vibe. The album is schedule to be released in the summer of 2013.
Here’s my Q/A with Gibbran and Tamsynn-Lee:
Briefly introduce yourself, and the band:
Gibbran: well my name is Gibbran and her name is Tamsynn-Lee and together we go by Gibbran&Tamsynn-Lee. Writing beautiful songs and making love are what we do best.. and not necessarily in that order..
In no particular order, list your top ten inspirations, even if they’re not musical.
Gibbran: Jesus, My Dad, Tamsynn-Lee, Ross Werlick, Sunsets, Love, Women, Freedom, Emotions, Visions/Epiphanies.. and ya they’re all musical to me.. I’d prefer if the question asked for at least the top 100.. because inspiration is infinite.. i think?
Tamsynn-Lee: Well, My Parents, Whitney Houston, Gibbran, Justin Nozuka. Right now I am inspired by anyone who has made a name for themselves on their own. I know how challenging this industry can be and we face it everyday.
What are your thoughts on the current status of the music industry?
Gibbran: hmm.. i have no thoughts on that..
Tamsynn-Lee: I have started to get a glimpse of what it really is about. Its changed so much since I was young. Now its all about your ‘online’ involvement. Making a nam - Whisker-A-Nogo

"Gibbran&Tamsynn-Lee Review"

Soul man Gibbran Khan Rashid and sultry singer Tamsynn-Lee Isaacs have combined forces within the universe and on their latest single titled aka The Brightest. Tamsynn-Lee Isaacs voice pulls you with heartfelt lyrics and a sense of honesty in her voice while the background tracks transcends the listener into a world of utopia with Mr. John T Davis, a Virginia jazz cat chiming in on the B3 organ.

Look for The Brightest to dominate the top 40 and R&B air waves with lyrics that are easy to remember while sing along to. The track was originally titled Shine, however after a celebration of love, life and beauty, Gibbran & Tamsynn – Lee fittingly renamed the song.

Gibbran&Tamsynn-Lee just returned from a tour in China, and will be taking time to work on their first album together which as of now is called “Steam.” This project has a Soul/Psychedelic//Pop vibe with a sound that is unique only to this duo.

"A Taste For Life"

A Taste For Life

Restaurants in downtown Oshawa were full with residents hungry for A Taste for Life on April 25. An evening of food and entertainment helped support the AIDS Committee of Durham Region.

The annual event called A Taste for Life is held throughout Ontario to raise HIV and AIDS awareness with a dining experience. Restaurants that participated in the event donated 25 per cent of the night’s proceeds to help individuals affected by AIDS and HIV.

Downtown Oshawa’s Stuttering John’s, The Table and the Thirsty Monk participated in the charitable event. Within walking distance of each another, each restaurant shared a unique atmosphere, menu options and live entertainment for the cause.

“It’s just like going out and having dinner with no extra cost,“ said Mark Hamman, Manager of Education Services for AIDS Durham. In working with and teaching people about HIV and AIDS, Hamman sees the organization’s impact first hand. “We’re there almost like a second family for people in many cases,” he said.

Seating was full at all three locations with special guests hosting and entertaining the evening. Dinner at Stuttering John’s was hosted by Councillor Amy England with musicians Gibbran and Tamsynn-Lee. Across the street, The Table seated Rotary hosts with music courtesy of Tam Duong. Meanwhile the Thirsty Monk welcomed BE Communication’s Tamara and Kevin LeClair. Actor Ryan Carnes made a special appearance to all three locations

“Anything we can do to support our community is a great cause,” said Antoine Albis, manager of the Thirsty Monk. This year marked the pub’s fourth year of involvement in the event.

With a goal of raising $10,000 through A Taste for Life, the non-profit organization also accepted donations. Contributors could enter a draw to win four VIA Rail tickets to Montreal, a deluxe stay at the Fairmont Royal York hotel in Toronto or a weekend trip at Bayview Wildwood Resort near Muskoka.

Though each restaurant had a great turnout, the event could use more support. “We’re hoping restaurants will come on board because it’s all about helping the community and the money stays here in Durham,“ said Hamman.

Sean Lockhart, Director of Development for AIDS Durham says proceeds from A Taste for Life will go to practical services in Durham Region including wellness, the volunteer driver program, and the food and vitamin banks. “It’s been great to see the community come together,” he said.

"3 a.m. — Buskers Tamsynn-Lee Isaacs and Gibbran"

Heading home from a night on the town, Tamsynn-Lee Isaacs and aspiring musician Gibbran decide to put their new busking permit to good use at the southwest corner of Yonge and Eglinton. With Canada Square as their backdrop, the pair attract a small crowd of spectators as they sing and strum pop hits like Eagle Eye Cherry’s “Save Tonight”.

Isaacs, who lives in the area, says midtown is a great spot to busk because there’s less competition. Street performers are always fighting for good spots - My Town Crier.ca

Bio

Gibbran&Tamsynn-Lee are pleased to announce the release of their self-titled debut EP available on July 21st, 2012.

With the rhythm of love-making and cosmic frequency, this sexy duo, Gibbran Khan Rashid and Tamsynn-Lee Isaacs, produce sweet music that they call Steam. A genre that possesses a warm and sensual ‘love-song’ essence with a feel good vibe.

This three track EP was recorded, engineered and co-produced by TARA graduate Jeff D. Elliott at The Audio Recording Academy and The Cave on Dufferin in Toronto, ON.

Early 2009, these two artists converged, conceiving sensual songwriting. Gibbran&Tamsynn-Lee create the sounds of love. Music that elevates the heart, the spirit and the soul. No doubt their chemistry is contagious.

Gibbran&Tamsynn-Lee were featured on ThatChannel.com’s ‘Liquid Lunch’ program with Hugh Reilly and D’Anise Marie, as well as on Durham College Riot Radio and College Underground Radio. They also appeared as guest artists at the School Alliance of Student Songwriters (S.A.S.S.) workshop with Dale Russell, Artemis Chartier and Rob Laidlaw.

Their debut single 'aka. The Brightest' is a celebration of love, life and beauty. This epic soundscape features Virginia jazz-cat, Mr. John T. Davis, on the B3 organ and was mastered by João Carvalho. All tracks were written, composed and co-produced by Gibbran&Tamsynn-Lee.

This project has a Soul/Psychedelic/Pop vibe with a sound that is unique only to this duo. Their full 10 song album is set to be released later this year.
